      Job summary

      An exciting opportunity has been created for a new 8C Consultant Psychology post. Building on the scoping work undertaken during 2022, th e programme will support delivery of key elements of the Healthy London Partnerships/Transforming Cancer Services Team model for integrated, end to-end, specialist psycho-oncology, adapting the model as appropriate to local requirements. The roles will work with leaders, providers, the system, and key stakeholders to identify what works for Kent and Medway to embed integrated psychological care across the KMCA footprint.

      This post holder will develop, provide and oversee a sustainable, system-wide service delivering integrated psycho-oncology care treating physical and mental health as one pathway. This Kent and Medway wide service will deliver level 1-4 psychological intervention in line with NICE (2004) guidance. The post holder will be working closely with Medway Foundation Trust, Darent Valley Hospital and East Kent Hospital University Foundation Trust and charities.

      Main duties of the job

      This role will also include extended scoping work across the pathway, clinical supervision and managerial support of the 8a clinical psychologists, clinical supervision services and complex patient work. Management of the service ensuring equity across the patch, service evaluation.

      You will be responsible for scoping and driving forward this wider system approach, working closely with stakeholders, senior management team, clinicians, people affected by cancer and their families to operationalise and implement high quality, evidence based Psychological Services across Kent and Medway. The post holder will be involved in service evaluation, balancing how services can be delivered in a cost-effective manner, and meeting the needs of families seen in the hospital.

      Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells NHS Trust is a large acute hospital Trust in the county of Kent.

      Essential

      • HCPC Registration as a Practitioner Psychologist
      • Post Doctorate Degree qualification in clinical, educational, counselling or health psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS)
      • Clinical supervision trained

      Desirable

      • Membership of specialist networks
      • Degree/diploma
      • Willingness to undertake clinical supervision training

      Experience

      Essential

      • Extensive experience of working as a qualified psychologist in a variety of different settings (acute trusts, community, mental health)
