There are close links with the Dermatology Centre at the Bristol Royal Infirmary (BRI), part of University Hospital Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW). Patients requiring complex biological treatments and patch testing are referred to the BRI for treatment. There are links with community specialist nurses for management of inflammatory skin disease. In addition, there is a Mohs micrographic surgery service supported by 3 part-time Mohs surgeons from UHBW. Our resident team includes a one-year rotating dermatology trainee (NTN), a clinical fellow, and a GP trainee doctor. To maintain close links between Dermatologists across the city, time will also be allocated for the weekly regional combined clinic which is held at the BRI.

Qualifications

Essential

• MB BS or equivalent Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians. Full registration with the GMC. Name on Specialist Registrar on date of taking up appointment or to have obtained CCT within 6 months of interview date

Desirable

• MD or equivalent

Training and Experience

Essential

• Wide experience in all aspects of General (internal) Medicine and Dermatology culminating in the award of CCT in Dermatology.
• Demonstrate interest in skin cancer, surgical dermatology and competent in dermatological surgery.
• Demonstrate interest in diagnosis and management of inflammatory dermatology

Desirable

• Completion of courses relevant to Dermatology
• Advanced training in Skin Surgery
• Higher degree e.g. MSc PhD.

Research, Teaching and Publications

Essential

• Thorough understanding of principles of medical audit. Ability to design, conduct and supervise audits
• Evidence of participation in Audit and Research
• Proven Published outputs

Desirable

• Experience of clinical research culminating in presentation and publication of original studies, review articles etc relevant to speciality.
• Ability to lead clinical research project

Personal Requirements

Essential

• Good communication skills. Evidence of the ability to communicate with patients, colleagues and staff at all levels
• Ability to work with colleagues in other specialties to develop local services.
• Ability to inspire, motivate and develop junior medical staff

• Evidence of participation in management
• Understanding of recent initiatives and changes, including Clinical Governance and Appraisal.

• Management courses and/or qualifications.
• Knowledge of the structure of Health Service.
