      Job summary

      This is post is partially a replacement but also a new post, created in response to the increasing demand for Stroke services provision both in hospital and the community. The successful candidate will work closely with the two existing Stroke Physicians.

      The successful applicant will be a committed clinician with a track record of excellent clinical service delivery, quality improvement, teaching and training. It is a requirement of the post that every doctor takes part in annual job planning and annual appraisal as part of the revalidation of cycle.

      The post is advertised as up to 10 + 1.5 PAs, including the options for acute medicine or Stroke On-call at local HASU

      Main duties of the job

      The post-holder will be responsible to the Divisional Director of Unplanned Care at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. This is a 10 + 1.5 PA post, 8 PA DCC, 2 SPA. SPA includes clinical and educational supervision, audit, personal CPD and mandatory training. Personal CPD must be included as part of annual appraisal which is mandatory and required for the revalidation process.

      GIM on-calls are not included in this post but may be available on negotiation to facilitate participation in the medical on call (acute take) rota (approximately 1:18).

      The post holder will, together with his or her consultant colleagues and other health care professionals in the Directorate, provide an effective and comprehensive service on the Stroke unit and the outpatient Stroke clinics. The post holder will work closely with colleagues to support quality improvement and service development in the department.

      About us

      The Hillingdon Hospital provides Acute Stroke service for the people of Hillingdon, Hayes, Harlington, Ruislip and part of Ealing. Our designated 24 bedded Acute Stroke Unit offers intense stroke rehabilitation for patients referred by our local HASUs (NWLH & CXH).

      The team includes 1 x SpR from geriatric rotation, 1x CT1/2, 1x FY2 rotating every four months as well as a Trust Grade SHO. We have Neuro-physiotherapists, Neuro-occupational Therapists, SALT, Dietician and psychology input.

      There is a dedicated Stroke Clinic every week and daily TIA clinics. There is a Stroke specialist nurse at Hillingdon hospital, who organises Stroke/TIA clinics.

      There are weekly Neuro-radiology and Neuro-vascular MDTs with Charing cross and Northwick Park hospitals respectively.
