- Practice as an expert/consultant pharmacist in genomics
- Lead the pharmacy service input for genomics and act as an expert resource for this area of practice
- Work with relevant stakeholders, including All Wales Medicines Genomics Service (AWMGS), to develop and agree models of care that optimise use of genomics across the Wales
- Share best practice in genomics across Wales through collaborative working
- Continue to develop quality standards for patient-facing pharmacy services, supporting performance measures and strategies to benchmark clinical contributions.
- Lead education and development in genomics for pharmacy and input to the related governance agenda.

- Postgraduate clinical qualification
- RPS Faculty or Consultant-ready credentialing
- Sufficient relevant prior experience at high level (grade 1-4)
- Evidence of service development in complex environment (grade 1-2)
- Teaching and/or research experience (1 point each)
- Leadership, strategic development
- Experience of translational medicine and/or highly collaborative multidisciplinary "bench to bedside" approach
- GPharmC registration

Job summary
An exciting opportunity has been developed for an experienced pharmacist to work nationally across Wales supporting enabling and embedding best practice in the rapidly evolving area of Pharmacogenomics.
Forging relationships with key stakeholders including Welsh Government, HEIW, academia and AWMGS, your leadership will inspire and expedite clinical engagement with pharmacogenomics to transform existing care pathways. You will develop and agree a shared purpose to manage complex issues, in line with Welsh Government intent for Pharmacogenomics. You will provide advice and support for effective use and governance in specialist settings. The post holder will be required to support the development and implementation of sustainable strategic and operational plans for NHS Wales.
You will practice as an expert/consultant pharmacist, engaging with a network of specialist pharmacists across NHS UK, you will champion learning, and capability development to prepare for future increased capacity demands.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, decision-making and specialist transformational skills with evidence of recent service development at senior management level through the application of modern improvement methodologies.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for a highly skilled consultant pharmacist to be responsible for the development and implementation of strategic plan for a pharmacy service supporting the introduction and delivery of genomics.
The successful applicant will acts as the lead pharmacist for genomics in Wales; provide expert pharmaceutical advice and support to the multi-disciplinary team; provide patient-orientated pharmacy services to inpatients, outpatients and in identified pharmacist-led clinics within the UHB.
Identify and participate in the development of an All Wales strategy for Research and Development in clinical pharmacy for genomics; contribute to and undertake a research programme based on the strategy.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
