Monitoring plant equipment to ensure proper operation and identify developing trends.
Quickly responding and taking corrective action to plant alarms.
Ensure work orders are written on faulty or unsafe equipment.
Performing PM inspections as required.
Performing water chemistry tests and adjust the chemical feed as needed.
Monitoring and maintaining operating levels in equipment.
Performing daily reporting activities.
Performing daily and real time dispatch functions.
Coordinating shift maintenance and operations activities.
Generating, hanging, clearing, and administering Lock Out Tag Outs (LOTOs).
Coordinate safety work permits (confined space, hot work, test operate, etc.)
Performing assignments or tasks received from the O&M or Plant Manager.
Applying and supporting safety practices.
Starting up and safely shutting down, isolating, or by-passing all plant equipment including turbines, boilers, generators, and switch gear.
Coordinating the proper distribution of electrical and thermal power to meet all contractual obligations whenever possible.
Conveying timely information required for reliable and safe operations.
Filling out the daily plant log sheets and logbook.
Performing trouble shooting when necessary.
High School graduate or equivalent.
6 years’ Operator experience in a power plant environment; technical training and previous success in performing technical functions in a power plant environment.
6 years’ gas/steam/power turbine operations or maintenance experience.
6 years’ steam turbine operations or maintenance experience.
4 years’ boiler operations or maintenance experience.
Ability to understand DCS and PLC ladder logic.
Ability to run trends to proactively diagnose potential issues.
Ability to learn the principles and operations of power plant equipment.
Basic knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles related to physics, mathematics, AC and DC electrical theory, heat transfer and fluid flow, thermodynamics, chemistry, and metallurgy.
Ability to understand and read mechanical and electrical drawings such as P&IDs, single line diagrams, schematics, and logics.
Knowledge of power plant safety, especially in areas such as chemical handling, high energy systems, incident energy/ arc flash, confined spaces, incipient fire suppression, first aid, rotating machinery, and heavy equipment operations.
Ability to operate valves, switches, controls, keyboards, and other devices associated with power plant and material handling equipment, as well as basic hand, portable and pneumatic tools, and basis rigging equipment.
Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language and perform mathematical computations.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
12 hour rotating shift work required.
Consists of walking, standing, kneeling, reaching, climbing, bending, and lifting (up to 80 pounds).
Will require work outside of a normal shift rotation during call-ins or planned maintenance outages.

Additional Details
The pay range for this position is $43.92 to $50.75. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate’s qualifications and prior relevant experience.
This position is eligible for health care benefits, retirement benefits, paid time off, and annual bonus.
As this is a safety sensitive position, clearance of a pre-employment drug test is required.
