      NATURE AND SCOPE:

      The Corporate Accountant position is part of the company’s General Ledger team in the Finance Division and an integral part of the general accounting operations by controlling and verifying our financial transactions. The Corporate Accountant’s responsibilities include maintaining and reconciling general ledger account balances and completing month-end closing procedures. The Corporate Accountant will possess excellent analytical skills with a thorough knowledge of accounting principles for analyzing financial reports and forecasts. The Corporate Accountant collaborates with other Finance team members and provides customer support to our internal customers related to financial transactions & reporting. The Corporate Accountant will ensure accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting responsibilities.

      PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES:

      • Provide assistance to the Controller for the successful execution of the Cognia General Ledger team’s responsibilities.
      • Contribute to meaningful collaboration with other Finance Team members to ensure accuracy and effectiveness in all accounting tasks.
      • Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
      • Conduct assigned monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance.
      • Produce financial and budget reports per schedule.
      • Assist with external audits to ensure compliance.
      • Coordinate (or is cross-trained) the organization’s compliance with state requirements for filing annual financial reports.
      • Responsible (or is cross-trained) for the maintenance of the company’s fixed asset records and related journal entries.
      • Provide input into department’s goal setting process.
      • Collaborate with the Controller to improve financial procedures and ensure compliance with GAAP principles.
      • Perform duties and fulfill responsibilities that may, from time to time, include related or unrelated tasks.

      JOB REQUIREMENTS:

      Education & Experience:

      • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent from an accredited university required
      • Two to four years progressively responsible experience in the accounting industry to include a thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
      • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of major accounting software packages for general ledger accounting. NetSuite.

      Competencies:

      • Strong analytical and accounting skills
      • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Excel, MS Word, and MS Outlook
      • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment
      • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills
      • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with high level of difficulty
      • Ability to work independently with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of work tasks. The individual will work closely with team members from across the company to include senior leadership, other divisions’ team members and the operations staff
      • Follows in all respects the Cognia code of ethics
      • Fosters positive and collaborative working relationships within the Finance Division and across the organization to accomplish organization-wide goals

      Anticipated Travel (may include local, national, and/or international travel):

      • Limited travel (0-10%)
