Research and analyze financial and operating performance relating to companies and industries.
Prepare concise, accurate and well-reasoned written credit applications and memoranda for both new and existing transactions, for presentation to Credit.
Maintain current financial information on clients in order to perform timely annual reviews and trigger monitoring.
Conduct credit risk analysis of transactions using all available sources of information including, but not limited to financial statements, ratings reports, legal documentation, etc.
Analyze transactions for structural strengths and weaknesses and structure appropriately to mitigate weaknesses.
Review credit documentation for conformity with approved Credit terms and conditions.
Prepare concise credit analysis and other correspondence for use in managing client relationships.
Keep abreast of industry trends and regulatory developments.
Manage a diverse portfolio of Global Markets accounts. This includes:
i) preparing written concise credit reviews as needed, at least annually, delivering same within required timeframes, and
ii) continuous monitoring of transaction performance and financial performance of the underlying client and its respective industry.
Monitor client, industry and regulations for potential changes which may affect client’s portfolio and business needs.
Monitor exposure across different BMO entities and products.
Working knowledge of Bank policies and standards to ensure portfolio adheres to BMO’s policies and procedures.
Assist in AML/KYC processing and obtain any pending required documentation.
Liaise with Global Markets Sales & Structuring partners, Credit Partners, various lines of business and operational areas of the Bank as required.
Support trading desks on portfolio management needs and growth initiatives of the business.
Assist in adhoc projects as required.
An undergraduate degree in finance, economics, or accounting.
1-3years of corporate banking experience in a corporate or commercial lending environment; formal credit training preferred.
Knowledge of capital markets
Credit analysis experience/ understanding.
Experience with commodities, and/or carbon assets
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong quantitative analytics, financial and credit analysis skills.
Expertise in financial computer applications and database management tools such as Moody’s, Capital IQ and Bloomberg.
Strong interpersonal skills used within a demanding internal environment and in client interaction.
Self-starter with keen attention to detail and ability to work under limited supervision.
Ability to learn and adapt quickly.
Excellent capability to independently and proactively service multiple clients and projects.
Ability to multi-task and balance multiple deadlines
- Please note the target base salary for this specific position in Toronto is $120,000CAD.

The Associate will be responsible for supporting the origination and structuring for Global Markets commodities clients. The portfolio will cover a diversified portfolio of Global Markets clients. This entails account management responsibility, as well as the ongoing independent monitoring of client portfolios and their performance in a proactive manner. In addition, as part of an ongoing team approach, the Associate will work closely with Global Markets Sales & Structuring to best serve and manage our existing client relationships as well as grow the portfolio in the base and precious metals, oil & gas and carbon trading portfolios. The Associate will work on deal teams to prepare credit packages making recommendations regarding risk, deal structure, and client requirements by analyzing financial and operational data of new and existing clients.

Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked.
