      Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Corporate Counsel II on a Permanent basis on our Legal and Governance team reporting to the Assistant General Counsel. This position is a hybrid opportunity and will be based out of either Saskatoon or Regina, Saskatchewan.

      What you’ll do:

      • Provide legal and strategic advice, services and opinions to FCL and its subsidiaries on a wide range of legal and business matters in support of FCL’s business initiatives, activities, growth objectives and operations. This includes proactively identifying legal risks affecting FCL and its subsidiaries by monitoring and providing legal direction on changes to legislation, regulations and caselaw impacting FCL or its subsidiaries, in the various jurisdictions where FCL and its subsidiaries operate.
      • Draft and review contracts, precedents and other documents with a view to minimizing risks and maximizing the legal rights of FCL and its subsidiaries.
      • Assist with the negotiation of legal terms of engagement with external parties to ensure the best interests of FCL and its subsidiaries are protected.
      • Understand and anticipate highly complex legal and business needs.
      • Develop, advise on, and implement highly specialized legal solutions to assist with business needs and requirements and to mitigate risk.
      • Instruct and manage the relationship with external legal counsel where retained, acting as a liaison between FCL and external counsel to facilitate understanding and ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness of dealings external legal counsel.
      • Create relationships of trust and respect with key internal (Senior Leadership Team, Assistant Vice-Presidents and Directors) and external stakeholders (regulators, external counsel, colleagues and internal clients) in a professional and respectful manner.
      • Ensure appropriate systems and processes are maintained for the efficient operation of the Legal and Governance Department, working collaboratively with internal clients and the other members of the Legal and Governance team.
      • Effectively prioritize work among internal clients.

      Who you’ll work with:

      In addition to members of the Legal and Governance Team, you will primarily work and create relationships of trust with key internal stakeholders that includes FCL’s Senior Leadership Team, and Business Unit Assistant Vice-Presidents and Directors) in addition to external stakeholders such as regulators and external counsel.

      Who you are:

      You are looking for a career in Legal and Governance and:

      • Have a Juris Doctor – Law Degree
      • Have 5-10 years related legal experience (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered)
      • A member in good standing of The Law Society of Saskatchewan
      • Familiar with Labour Relations Law and prior experience in providing legal advice and services on labour relations matters would be considered an asset.
