      Job Description

      The Corporate Risk Management Director develops and administers organization-wide risk management programs while continuously evaluating potential risks and exposures for the company. Creates and modifies policies to comply with safety legislation and industry practices. Accountable for achieving strategic objectives, ensuring effective risk management for the organization and supervising, leading and/or directing key risk stakeholders. The position owns the process of identifying, measuring, and managing insurable or hazard risks, developing reports and plans, and analyzing risk/insurance problems and defining and/or overseeing the implementation of the risk solutions that help optimize operations.

      Responsibilities

      Risk Management

      • Manage risk management standard operating procedures of the company
      • Work with business units to help identify and assess risk.

      Risk Financing

      • Review all insurance policies for accuracy and confirm they meet requirements of contracts and lenders. Negotiate changes/corrections through broker or insurance company personnel
      • Assist in preparing professional submissions to portray company in most favorable light to underwriters. Collect underwriting info from various business units
      • Assist with working with broker on loss forecasts and maximum possible loss scenarios

      Loss Control/Safety

      • Oversee the management of the risk assessment program for general liability, auto liability, and workers’ compensation in coordination with corporate and field loss control personnel
      • Work with Corporate LC to provide or coordinate loss control education sessions as necessary for appropriate operations people within the company
      • Ensure company meets all regulatory compliance mandates (i.e. OSHA, EPA, etc.)
      • Manage Corporate and field loss prevention force and maintain company LP policies

      Claims Management

      • Oversee the management of TPA/Insurance companies to accurately set reserves for known exposure
      • Perform claim audits with TPA/Insurer to validate reserving practices of these third parties.
      • Review costs associated with all claims handling and continually evaluate performance of TPA’s
      • Manage claims within retention. Negotiate large claims with insurance company adjusters, senior management and company legal department
      • Oversee claim reviews with TPA, work closely with TPA team members and legal department to develop claim closure strategies
      • Continual communication with Legal Counsel on claims management

      Other

      • Assist in development of insurance budgets for business units
      • Assist in development and maintenance of systems to allocate RM costs to appropriate areas within the company
      • Manage certificates of insurance. Verify certificates meet contractual wording/requirements
      • Maintain benchmarking data

      Qualifications

      • Minimum 5- 7 years of experience
      • BS/BA in law, business, finance, or a related field
      • Exceptional communication skills to field personnel as well as senior management
      • Experience with auditing and reporting procedures
      • Professional designations a plus (CPCU, ARM, CIC, CRM, PRM)
      • Claims and loss control experience
      • Analytical experience and ability to multitask
