      Who we are

At CarGurus (NASDAQ: CARG), our mission is to give people the power to reach their destination. We started as a small team of developers determined to bring trust and transparency to car shopping. Since then, our history of innovation and go-to-market acceleration has driven industry-leading growth. In fact, we’re the largest and fastest-growing automotive marketplace, and we’ve been profitable for over 15 years.

      What we do

The market is evolving, and we are too, moving the entire automotive journey online and guiding our customers through every step. That includes everything from the sale of an old car to the financing, purchase, and delivery of a new one. Today, tens of millions of consumers visit CarGurus.com each month, and ~30,000 dealerships use our products. But they're not the only ones who love CarGurus—our employees do, too. We have a people-first culture that fosters kindness, collaboration, and innovation, and empowers our Gurus with tools to fuel their career growth. Disrupting a trillion-dollar industry requires fresh and diverse perspectives. Come join us for the ride!

      Role overview

CarOffer fully became part of the CarGurus (NASDAQ: CARG) family in 2023, and is an industry leader in the digital wholesale marketplace. We are automating a dealer’s ability to buy, sell, and trade cars. By bringing these two companies together, we are giving consumers and dealers alike the power to reach their destination through a full suite of digital transaction platforms.

This is a hybrid position based out of our Addison, TX office.

CarOffer, a CarGurus company, is looking to hire an organized, results-driven Corporate Strategy Lead to join our Strategy & Operations team. This individual will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of CarOffer by driving our strategic planning process, leading cross-functional initiatives, and providing strategic guidance to internal stakeholders. The Corporate Strategy Lead will collaborate closely with leaders across the organization to ensure company-wide alignment with our strategic plan and foster a culture of innovation, growth, and continuous improvement.

The Strategy & Operations team is a horizontal, high-impact team that develops informed positions on the biggest strategic challenges facing CarOffer and then partners cross-functionally to bring that strategy to life on the execution side. Whether we’re evaluating net-new commercial opportunities or finding ways to unlock value in the existing business, we approach problems with data-driven rigor and intellectual humility.

      What you'll do

      Strategy & Planning

      • Lead the organization's annual and long-term strategic planning processes, collaborating with senior leadership to ensure alignment with overall business goals
      • Work cross-functionally to cascade the overall strategy to the department and individual level, ensuring strategic initiatives are well understood and implemented effectively
      • Track business performance against the strategic plan to inform ongoing prioritization and escalation in light of a dynamic, ever-changing business landscape
      • Partner closely with the Chief of Staff to ensure the company is appropriately resourced and structured to execute on its strategy in the near- and long-term

      Innovation & Growth Initiatives

      • Serve as an “internal strategy consultant” by providing strategic thought leadership to business partners and leading problem-solving sessions to overcome project challenges
      • Identify strategic areas for growth and performance improvement within our Revenue, Operations, and G&A teams and then partner with those functional leaders to execute strategic projects to achieve results that align with our strategic plan
      • Lead initiatives for new product commercialization, business model evolution, and market expansion, assessing potential impact on the company’s growth and profitability

      Analysis & Reporting

      • Perform market and competitive analysis to develop perspectives on internal and external forces shaping the business and their implication for CarOffer’s strategy
      • Conduct in-depth analyses to frame our most pressing business challenges and opportunities, synthesizing insights in a compelling way to drive decisions at every level of the organization
      • Develop strategic, executive-level presentations and memos to communicate key business updates and recommendations

      What you'll bring

      • 4-6 years of experience in corporate strategy, management consulting, business development, or related field; experience in the tech industry a plus
      • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA a plus
      • Proven track record of tackling hard, ambiguous problems with rigor and independence, owning projects from initial definition to final recommendation
      • Strong business acumen and analytical judgment, with capability to synthesize complex information quickly and effectively
      • A strategic mindset, able to take the 10,000 foot view of a business
      • Proficiency in data analysis and visualization using tools such as Excel and Tableau to distill complex data into clear, actionable insights
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills – clear and concise with the ability to develop and present compelling narratives, strong executive presence
      • Capacity to multitask and effectively manage competing priorities with clear goal-setting and follow-through capability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment
      • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships, with a knack for establishing rapport and fostering collaborative partnerships across all levels of an organization
      • Ability to empower and lead teams of cross-functional resources in a matrixed organization with contending priorities, with or without direct authority
