Supporting the charity through the provision of investigation services, as directed by the Counter Fraud Manager, for cases of actual or suspected fraud, error and non-compliance. Ensuring any such investigations are completed in a fair, robust and professional (credible) manner.
Working together with those parts of the charity affected by fraud, error or non-compliance.
Completing analysis of case relevant data and the review/interpretation of reports and other relevant information to ensure we draw fair and robust conclusions in the investigation and make recommendations that improve the control framework.
Gathering evidence through the review of relevant documentation and/or through the interviewing of relevant people.
Supporting the Counter Fraud Manager with the development, preparation and delivery of fraud risk management training and awareness activities across the charity.
Experience of completing investigations of actual/suspected cases of fraud, either as the individual investigating officer or as part of a bigger team.
An ability to obtain, review and analyse data and information to reach credible and supported conclusions and recommendations in the completion of fraud investigations.
Good knowledge of the legal frameworks and requirements within which fraud investigations are conducted,
Demonstratable experience in completing investigations from start to finish and ability to assess impact on organisation and make relevant changes
An inquisitive mindset and a natural curiosity to ‘get to the bottom’ of matters.
Resilience and persistence to ‘see things through’.
An ability to deal with potentially sensitive and confidential matters with discretion, empathy and sensitivity.

£36,000- £42,000
Reports to: Counter Fraud Manager
Department: Chief Operating Office
Contract: 18 month fixed-term contract
Hours: Full time 35 hours per week (Flexible working requests will be considered)
Location: Stratford, London or Oxford, Sterling House Office-based with high flexibility (1-2 days per week in the office)

We are looking for a Counter Fraud Specialist to join our Risk Management team, to ensure the safety and reputation of Cancer Research UK is kept intact. You will be an experienced investigator used to seeing an investigation through from start to finish, with the ability to implement tighter controls due to your findings. You don’t have to of led as an individual investigator, you could have worked as part of a larger team, but you will bring with you, a proactive attitude, knowledge of necessary legal frameworks, and a curious mindset in order to support us in one of our key risk areas.
