      ABOUT THE COURT

      Los Angeles Superior Court is the largest unified trial court in the United States. Its 580 judges and commissioners work in one of the 40 facilities within the Court's 12 judicial districts and are supported by more than 4,500 full-time Court employees.       ABOUT THE POSITION
      Court Services Assistant III directly serves the court by performing court operations desk assignments requiring advanced knowledge of court policies and practices and the application of legally established procedures and deadlines in the designated areas of the law including preparing and issuing writs and warrants, preparing and updating court calendars, reviewing documents for completeness and accuracy and rejecting incomplete documents, processing and issuing refunds and processing various complex and specialized court documents.

      TELEWORK OPPORTUNITIES
      This position may be eligible for partial telework following an initial training period contingent upon the Court's operation unit.

      SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:

      To qualify, you must meet one of the following options at time of filing.

      Option I: Graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent -AND- Two years experience as a Court Services Assistant II or Senior Records Assistant working for Los Angeles Superior Court - AND- United States citizenship.

      Option II: An Associate's degree from an accredited college or equivalent number of units (60 semester or 90 quarter) from an accredited college or university* -AND- One year of experience performing administrative, clerical or secretarial duties at the level of a Los Angeles Superior Court, Court Services Assistant II or Senior Records Assistant** -AND- United States citizenship.

      **Experience at the level of a Los Angeles Superior Court, Court Services Assistant II or Senior Records Assistant is defined as performing work in a comparable class with the same level of responsibility and requiring the same knowledge, skills, and abilities.


      Option III: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university AND- United States citizenship.

      Note: Credit for experience is given based on a 40-hour workweek. Part-time experience is credited on a part-time ratio, i.e., working 20 hours per week for two months equals one month of experience. No additional credit is given for overtime.

      *Degree/Education Verification for Option II & III: A legible copy of your college diploma -OR- official transcripts with the degree or units posted from the college or university must be submitted when your application is filed. Otherwise, your application materials will be deemed incomplete and rejected accordingly.

      Licenses; Certificates; Special Requirements:
      A valid California Class C driver's license or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.

      United States citizenship is required for appointment in accordance with the California State Constitution and Government Code.

      Certain assignments may require the ability to frequently lift file boxes and other objects weighing 10 to 15 pounds and occasionally lift file boxes and other objects weighing over 25 pounds.


      EXAMINATION INFORMATION:

      Part I: Qualifying evaluation of education, training and experience based upon submitted application materials and supplemental questionnaire.

      Part II: Online examination, weighted 100% covering conscientious, composure, drive for success, service professionalism, following instructions, customer focus, proofreading, and reading comprehension. No person may complete this assessment more than once every 6 months.
