- Manage a team of experienced designers, supporting in prioritizing tasks during all project phases, from definition to development, as well as contributing to design projects.
- Work directly with Woo and Design’s leadership to define how the product, marketing, and brand come together.
- Work independently and collaboratively on exceptional concepts, creative ideas, and visual design for marketing campaigns to promote our brands across various digital and traditional channels and mediums.
- Actively evolve and contribute to brand and marketing design systems, creative templates, and style guides to help our brand design team grow our skills and scale our practice.
- Work closely with the marketing and business teams on the development and validation of projects directly related to growing the business.
- Collaborate regularly with product designers and engineers to ship consistent, high-quality experiences across marketing and products.
- Manage and oversee project work with external creative contractors.
- Communicate and share often in written, verbal, and visual forms to create alignment and move the work toward implementation.
- Actively contribute to the greater design org at Automattic, surfacing, connecting, and providing input to work across various design teams.
- Extensive experience in brand and marketing creative design working on consumer brands or products in an agency or in-house environments.
- A design portfolio with examples of brand and web design work showing your keen eye for good design and attention to detail.
- Experience owning relationships with external agencies and directing their work.
- Comfort working with marketing stakeholders, other creatives, developers, and other partners to produce outstanding work.
- Excellent design and art direction skills for brand and marketing and experience with all standard industry tools and processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills—you’ll collaborate with others and present your work regularly in a written format.
- Experience managing art directors, designers, video teams, and other creatives, guiding them in their craft and mentoring them in their careers.
- Experience in managing and communicating expectations, as well as providing feedback to a remote team.
- As a plus, you have some experience in e-commerce: you’ve worked on e-commerce/DTC accounts, have actually made and sold something yourself, have worked for an e-commerce app or tool, etc.

This role combines creative strategy with creative management. You’ll lead a small team of designers while working on hands-on concepts, creative strategy, and brand-building work.

Salary range: $95,000-$200,000 USD - Please note that salary ranges are global, regardless of location, and we pay in local currency.
