      Position Overview:

      The Credit Analyst will be responsible for assessing the creditworthiness of Motiva’s counterparties and providing support to the commercial teams to establish credit limits. The incumbent performs credit risk analysis and proposes credit limits, negotiates, monitors, and controls security, interfaces with customers and the business units, balances risk and return, approves block orders which exceed the credit limits, and supports team actions to meet both Credit and business unit goals.

      Responsibilities:

      • Maintain collaborative relationships with the commercial desks, functional support areas, and customers by building creative solutions focused on the business strategies.

      • Perform detailed analysis of financial statements to develop counterparty risk profiles and establish credit limits based on the analysis and designated authority level.

      • Prepares in-depth analysis along with business rationale to request approval above the authority level.

      • Meets and communicates directly with the customer’s senior financial leaders to establish an understanding of the customer’s financial health.

      • Negotiate security to establish credit limits that are unsupported by financials and ensure timely actions are taken to renew/replace security prior to the expiration date.

      • Use sound judgement and ensure proper due diligence is performed in accordance with Motiva’s Credit Policy standards.

      • Provides approval for release of product/liftings above established credit limits.

      • Develop analytics reporting for operational & management reporting as well as ad hoc reporting requests.

      • Coordinate with external vendors to enhance credit evaluation efficiency and accuracy by utilizing new rating methodologies.

      • Support Credit system and other internal system implementations and upgrades by providing technical guidance on ensuring applications meet required specifications by designing, executing, and reporting on tests of systems and services.

      • Construct business test scenarios to identify expected outcomes and potential gaps within the credit system.

      Experience and Qualifications:

      Basic Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.

      • 3+ of relevant experience in a credit risk function or related role with existing energy credit experience

      • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).

      • Ability to prioritize with high organizational and time management skills.

      • Advanced and skilled with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).

      • Ability to adapt to a high-paced environment and strong commercial acumen.

      Preferred Qualifications:

      • 5+ of relevant experience in a credit risk function or related role with existing energy credit experience

      • Strong skill set at analyzing counterparty financials, industry trends, country risk research, and both business and market information.

      • Knowledgeable and proficient with SAP and RightAngle systems.

      • Proven exposure to systems implementations and project management specifically with ETRM and Credit Risk Systems

      • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles and systems integration methodologies.

      • Experience with identifying potential software enhancements, analyzing user needs, and providing recommendations to improve business process and system efficiencies.
