Market The Hartford’s CPRI capabilities to banks, export credit agencies, trading companies, multinational corporations, private equity firms and multilateral financial institutions and their brokers around the world and ensure those entities are onboarded properly
Maintain current relationships through regular meetings with the clients and their brokers
Underwrite credit insurance policies covering various types of trade, export and project finance transactions
Collaborate with the Country, Credit and Economic Research team when analyzing the credit risk associated with the credit insurance policies written
Engage with brokers around the world to procure opportunities and underwrite the risks (including negotiating policy wording and communicating the various due diligence requirements to bind the credit insurance policy)
Work closely with the other underwriters on the team acting as a source of advice and knowledge to assist them in underwriting their own credit insurance policies for the team
Underwrite political risk insurance policies covering various types of investments in emerging markets
Analyze various types of political risks that could effect the investments of our clients
Negotiate policy wordings with private equity firms and multinational corporations (via their broker)
Five- plus years of relevant work experience as a credit insurance and political risk insurance underwriter at a multi-line property and casualty insurer or Export Credit Agency or Multilateral is required.
Knowledge and experience working on emerging and frontier market economic, political and credit issues is required.
Formal credit training required with detailed knowledge of trade finance structures such as Letters of Credit, Pre-Export Finance Facilities, etc.
Experience working with large financial institutions and managing those relationships.
International work experience preferred

Excellent written and verbal communications skills
Ideal candidate will be located in Boston, Chicago, DC, Los Angeles, NYC, or Philadelphia; open to considering a candidate outside of one of these regions if they bring deep expertise in CPRI Underwriting with a competing carrier.

Reporting to the Head of Credit and Political Risk Insurance(CPRI), the Senior Underwriter will be responsible for underwriting credit insurance and political risk insurance policies for the CPRI team within The Hartford's Global Specialty team. The successful candidate will be responsible for building a book of business in the United States by procuring new clients and managing existing clients, responding to daily business volume and underwriting policies for banks, export credit agencies, trading companies, multinational corporations, private equity firms and multilateral financial institutions.

Compensation
The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$77,920 - $145,320The posted salary range reflects our ability to hire at different position titles and levels depending on background and experience.
