      We are looking for an experienced Data Center Critical Mechanical System Specialist to lead mechanical systems management in our data center facilities. This role is pivotal in ensuring the continuous, efficient, and safe operation of all mechanical systems, including cooling systems, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), air-cooled and water-cooled chillers, Pumps, VFDs, Cooling Towers, Packaged Roof Top Units (RTUs), Computer Room Air Conditioners (CRACs) and air handling units (AHUs). The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in mechanical systems, advanced troubleshooting skills, and a strong understanding of how to optimize the performance of critical mechanical infrastructure.

      Responsibilities:
      • Provide guidance and oversight of the operation and maintenance of all mechanical systems critical to the data center's functioning and maintaining SLA ranges.
      • Provide guidance to the site teams to ensure that all mechanical systems are running efficiently, minimizing downtime and ensuring that the systems meet environmental and operational standards.
      • Provide guidance and plans for managing and optimizing the cooling strategies for all data centers to maintain optimal temperature and humidity levels, ensuring uptime and system efficiency.
      • Oversee the monitoring of cooling infrastructure and performance, implementing improvements as necessary to meet capacity and environmental standards.
      • Act as the subject matter expert in diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues that may impact data center operations, including HVAC malfunctions, cooling failures, and air quality problems.
      • Perform root cause analysis on any mechanical failures and lead the effort to correct and mitigate future issues.
      • Assist in the development and execution of a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all mechanical systems, ensuring they are kept in optimal condition to avoid unplanned outages or failures.
      • Develop and implement predictive maintenance tools to monitor system health and schedule repairs or upgrades before failures occur.
      • Provide leadership and management for the design of mechanical system upgrades, expansions, and installations, ensuring they meet the necessary operational standards, timelines, and budget requirements.
      • Work closely with cross-functional teams to plan and execute mechanical system changes that align with data center growth or operational efficiency goals.
      • Provide process and policy direction to ensure mechanical systems meet all regulatory, safety, and environmental standards, such as ASHRAE guidelines, local building codes, and OSHA safety requirements.
      • Conduct regular audits and inspections of mechanical equipment to ensure safety and compliance with all regulations and company policies.
      • Provide guidance to site teams to maintain detailed records of mechanical system performance, inspections, maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
      • Prepare and deliver regular reports on system performance, incidents, and suggested improvements to senior management.
      • Provide leadership, training, and support to site mechanical team members and other operational staff.
      • Offer technical expertise and guidance in troubleshooting, system design, and operation of mechanical systems to site personnel from a remote location.
      • Ability to travel 25%


      Qualifications:
      • 7+ years of experience in the maintenance and operation of critical mechanical systems, with a focus on data centers or mission-critical facilities.
      • Demonstrated expertise in troubleshooting and resolving complex mechanical issues in high-availability environments.
      • Strong understanding of energy management and efficiency practices for mechanical systems in mission-critical environments.
      • Ability to lead projects, troubleshoot complex issues, and implement long-term solutions to mechanical challenges.
      • Familiarity with monitoring systems, predictive maintenance tools, and building automation systems (BAS).
      • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to train and manage teams effectively.
      • Ability to work in a high-pressure, mission-critical environment, maintaining focus and effectiveness under stress.


      Education / Certifications:
      • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field (preferred).
      • Professional certifications such as Certified Energy Manager (CEM), or similar are highly desirable.
