      Summary

      The CRO and Reinsurance Risk Manager offers a new and exciting opportunity for an experienced risk professional to provide independent oversight of risk for all aspects of Everest Reinsurance Company (Ireland), Dac (“ERCID”) and build on Everest’s existing strong risk culture, actively promoting a culture of effective risk awareness, risk management and governance across the Global Reinsurance Division.

      This position can be located from either Dublin, London or Zurich with a hybrid schedule of working two days remote each week.

      Key Accountabilities:

      As the CRO for ERCID the incumbent will:

      • Be responsible for leading, developing, implementing, and maintaining the risk management framework.

      • Ensure appropriateness and consistency of risk management strategies, governance and policies in conjunction with Everest’s Group ERM and support the Compliance Function to maintain and enhance the regulatory compliance framework.

      • Continue development of a cohesive control framework and risk appetites in local entities.

      • Lead annual Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) reporting and support regulatory inquiries and requests.

      • Leads the activities related to internal risk reporting with ERCID management and board as well as to Group ERM and Risk Committees.

      • Direct regional Solvency II regulatory capital modelling work and the development of Risk Mitigation Plans.

      • Establish key risk indicators within the businesses, monitor and evaluate against prescribed appetites.

      As Global Reinsurance Risk Manager this individual will:

      • Identify emerging key risks in collaboration with underwriting and other stakeholders – using external as well as internal perspectives to anticipate changes and assess impact on our environment.

      • Facilitate adoption of Everest’s ERM framework within the Reinsurance Division, ensuring clear roles and responsibilities across the Three Lines of Défense.

      • Maintain alignment and consistency with Everest’s ERM framework, processes and tools.

      • Identify new risk technology and tools to improve the efficiency and consistency of risk monitoring and reporting across the Reinsurance Division.

      • Support implementation and execution of risk self-assessments, control testing and risk event management with first line stakeholders.

      • Oversee any risk remediation as deemed necessary.

      • Perform periodic review of operational resiliency policies.

      • Oversee execution of resiliency exercises to ensure effectiveness of continuity plans and employee notification protocols .

      • Manage Reinsurance Division engagement with internal risk committee reporting up to local and executive management.

      • Assist in annual Own Risk and Solvency Assessment (ORSA) reporting and support regulatory inquiries and requests.

      Qualifications, Education & Experience:

      • Proven experience in risk, ideally with a global remit

      • Actuarial qualification a plus

      Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

      • Extensive knowledge and understanding of operational and financial risks within a global (re)insurer, including experience of Solvency II.

      • Strong problem solving, analytical and numerical skills

      • Proven ability to influence.

      • Ability to develop effective working relationships across the business.

      • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
