Job Title: CTE Special Populations Specialist Wage/Hour Status: Exempt 202 Days Reports To: Director of CTE Pay Grade: Teacher Payscale Dept./Campus: CTE Date Revised: 06/2019 Primary Purpose:Work in collaboration with district and campus staff to develop, monitor and support all Career and Technical Education students for career, academic and post-secondary success with a focus on students with disabilities, bilingual, and other non-traditional populations. This position will work in close partnership with departments and divisions to provide general and specialized professional development, recommendations for programming and placement, interventions, and intensive programs of instruction. The individual will assist the district to comply with state and federal requirements for special education and the Office of Civil Rights. Qualifications:Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four year college or university 3+ years teaching experience in Career Tech related field Valid Texas Teacher certification or endorsement from TEA Preferred Master’s degree in educational administration/CTE Related Field/Counseling Preferred Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate Special Knowledge/Skills: Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction and special populations Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness Ability to implement policy and procedures Ability to interpret data Strong organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills Major Responsibilities and Duties: CTE Special Populations Coordination Attend or coordinate attendance of ARD meetings, for students that are currently enrolled or plan to enroll in a CTE course, to ensure CTE representation. Recommend endorsements, pathways and courses in accordance with career and graduation plans. Ensure implementation of accommodations in CTE courses. Provide training to CTE teachers working with special populations Make curriculum suggestions for accommodations and students of special populations. Coordinate work experiences and field trips for special populations students CTE Data Implementation and AnalysisIdentify members of special populations enrolled in CTE programs Gather information and appropriate documents from CTE teachers to ensure quality placement information is presented during ARD meetings Gather, review, and report on CTE data as it relates to career clusters, district enrollment, campus enrollment, and special populations. Maintain records documenting access to, progress through, and successful completion of CTE programs for special population students. Identify programs that need improvement to assist special populations in meeting performance indicators. CTE Promotions, Recruitment and Retention Develop promotional materials designed to recruit and retain CTE students Work with CTE staff in creating and developing CTE newsletter Work with CTE staff to ensure recognition in all areas of media, district publications, and websites Ensure promotional materials provide access to all students regardless of race, color, national origin, sex or handicapping condition Identify target areas for the purpose of promoting non-traditional students in CTE programs Assist CTE staff in the Go Centers with college and career guidance CTE Community RelationsDemonstrate awareness of school and community needs and initiate activities to meet those needs. Use appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvement. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervise and evaluate the performance of staff assigned. Occasional districtwide and statewide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
