      Under general supervision, performs un-skilled to semi-skilled manual work in the care and maintenance of municipal buildings. Work is subject to inspection by a supervisor for maintenance of established standards of cleanliness and compliance with instructions.
      • Sweeps and mops daily.
      • Strips and waxes, buffs floors quarterly or as needed for the campus.
      • Vacuums and cleans carpets for the campus
      • Dusts and cleans furniture in Administration Bldg. and Fire Prevention Bldg.
      • Washes walls, windows, furnishings and fixtures.
      • Cleans rest rooms twice daily -- maintaining supplies.
      • Collects and disposes of trash daily.
      • Keeps inventory of cleaning supplies and reports low supplies to supervisor.
      • Shelves supplies and transport materials.
      • Mixes insect sprays under direction of supervisor and sprays for insects, as required.
      • Assists in general maintenance work (i.e., changing light bulbs, fixtures, etc.).
      • Maintains yards, which includes: Cuts Grass/Edging/Pruning of Trees & Bushes weekly or bi-weekly.
      High school diploma or a tenth grade education at minimum is preferred, or any equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the appointing authority. This position reports to a designated immediate supervisor within the appropriate department. Designated by the Fire Chief.
      • Knowledge of the methods, practices and materials used in cleaning operations.
      • Ability to carry out assignments according to established schedules and practices.
      • Basic knowledge of environmental services, maintenance (yard maintenance and equipment) and floor maintenance equipment which includes waxing and buffing.
      • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with fellow employees and with members of the general public.
      • Completes special projects and performs other miscellaneous duties as required.
