      The City of Toronto is looking for a Cyber Security Analyst to offer comprehensive operational analysis and assistance in the creation, implementation, and maintenance of cyber security programs and systems, ensuring the protection of the City's digital assets from potential cyber threats.

      The Cyber Security Analyst is responsible for upholding and adhering to established cyber security standards while also providing technical expertise and business guidance to all divisions, agencies, and corporations of the City. By delivering professional advice, support, and services, the Cyber Security Analyst plays a vital role in safeguarding the City's critical infrastructure and promoting a secure digital environment for all stakeholders.

      Major Responsibilities:

      • Implements detailed plans and recommends cyber security policies/procedures regarding program-specific requirements.
      • Conducts research into the designated topic, making sure that the research takes into consideration industry advancements, business policies, practice laws, and efforts by other governmental levels.
      • Plans and carries out given projects while fostering strong cooperation, effective communication, high organizational performance standards, and ongoing learning.
      • Participates in large, complex projects with the section's Specialists and/or Senior Specialists, offering project coordination assistance, technical counsel, and advice while offering support and input to assigned project teams and contracted resources to fulfill goals.
      • Contributes to the tracking and upgrading of security strategies within frameworks that have been recognized by the industry by monitoring, identifying, analyzing, and testing events to guarantee that cyber security concerns are reported and remediated.
      • Prepares preliminary background information on cyber security requirements for business strategies to provide appropriate advice, guidance and technical solutions.
      • Handles sensitive information affecting the organization and its resources. Prepares management reports to support suggestions for changes/improvements in business processes, training, and service standards that affect optimal workforce numbers and resource allocation.
      • Investigates and responds to incidents related to application security. Makes recommendations based on investigation results which could lead to the discipline or dismissal of staff.
      • Maintains current and developing application security threats, trends, and associated methodologies and technologies, as well as significant business drivers and opportunities. Identifies cyber security vulnerabilities in applications.
      • Ensures timely follow-up with remediation activities and coordination with support teams.
      • Contributes to the development and reporting of enterprise-level metrics for vulnerabilities and remediation progress.

      Key Qualifications:

      1. Post-Secondary education and experience in a discipline pertinent to the job function: Cyber Security; Computer Science; Information Security.
      2. Excellent knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Power Point); working knowledge of program/project management software.
      3. Data visualization tools to prepare flow charts, models, and other documentation used in leadership decision-making (e.g.Visio).
      4. Strong broad-based understanding of IT.
      5. Strong communication skills to interact with all project stakeholders.
      6. Ability to work in transformative programs.
      7. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment managing multiple priorities with proven time management skills.
