Security Intern

● Gain experience in cybersecurity with News Corp, a world-renowned media business. As a
Product Security Intern, you will work closely with the cybersecurity and product engineering
teams to ensure that our applications are developed securely and vulnerabilities are
managed. You will have the chance to work with household names such as The Times, The
Sun, talkSPORT, TalkTV and Virgin Radio. Ideal for someone who is looking to break into their
first cybersecurity role, or is early in their cyber career.
About You
● Targeting a career in cybersecurity
● Prior study, self-study or work experience in programming, cloud infrastructure,
computing or cybersecurity
● Exhibits a strong passion and motivation for this field
● Capable of working autonomously when provided with clear guidance and support
● Very good interpersonal skills for engaging and negotiating with teams and
stakeholders
● Excellent at managing tasks and staying organised
● Good analytical skills for reviewing data sets
● Good written English, ideally with some experience writing technical documents or
papers
● Basic understanding of common application vulnerabilities, such as the OWASP

About The Job:

● 6 month internship working with the Product Security team for News UK
● Will be responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting on vulnerability data
from security tools, with support from more senior members of the team
● Will be responsible for contributing to our written documentation on security
processes and the products and components that we support
● May occasionally need to present findings to engineering and/or other cyber
teams
● Assist the team in other areas of the secure software development lifecycle
(SSDLC), including threat modeling, vulnerability remediation, security tool
implementation and automation, vulnerability triage, organising penetration tests,
and operating our vulnerability disclosure programme
● Regular opportunities to shadow and learn from experienced product security
engineers
● Assigned mentor for the duration of the internship, with regular sessions working
towards your career goals
