What to Expect (Job Responsibilities):
- Create and engineer datasets using publicly available information
- Assist with the preparation and storage of large datasets
- Provide documentation for created datasets
- Extract data from reports, the web, and other sources
- Manipulate and prepare datasets for analysis
What is Required (Qualifications):
- Must be a current student at the University of Virginia
- Ability to read through multiple reports and distill information into a database format
- Familiarity with big datasets
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, Java, SQL, and/or Solidity
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
How to Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications):
- Enrollment in disciplines such as business, accounting, economics, social sciences, humanities, statistics, math, computer science, or data science
- Strong synthesis skills, particularly in reading and summarizing arguments
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple projects
- Willingness to approach problems from different angles when initial solutions are ineffective
