- Creates, maintains, and disseminates ad hoc, self-service, and interactive reports and visualizations, along with facilitating the production and sharing of analytical tools and dashboards.
- Implements data analytics and business intelligence tool sets in performance of duties.
- Utilizes reporting technologies such as SQL Server, Oracle DBMS, Tableau, Power BI, business object databases, ETL frameworks, GIS mapping and relational databases in performance of duties.
- Performs evaluations of user requirements for new and existing reports and dashboards
- Performs debugging, tuning, and documenting of all processes and components.
- Performs unit, integration, acceptance, and regression testing to verify that reporting processes function correctly and meet requirements.
- Mines data sources, identifies trends and crucial data.
- Communicates findings and recommends solutions for more meaningful analysis and interpretation.
- Utilizes knowledge of the theories and functions of computer systems in performance of duties.
- Continues education by attending meetings, training sessions, seminars, and conferences to increase familiarity with and maintain current on products, vendors, techniques and procedures.
- Attends demonstrations and exhibitions related to assigned operations.
- Provides support to ensure operational status of the reporting portals and dashboards at all times.
- Monitors applications, answers technical questions, and responds to emergency requests when problems arise.
- Requires knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with course work in computer science or directly related fields.
- Requires one (1) of professional experience in applications related work or a related Information Technology field.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience with data analytics, business intelligence tool sets, and reporting packages such as Tableau, Power BI or comparable packages.
- Requires one (1) year of professional experience with relational databases, business objects, ETL frameworks, SQL Server, or Oracle DBMS.

- Knowledge of GIS mapping.

- Developed verbal and written communication skills to present information with clarity and precision.
- Requires the ability to pass a position specific, agency required background check.
- Requires the ability to travel.
- Requires ability to work overtime OR serve on an on-call basis.
- Requires the ability to serves in rotation for call outs on system problems.
- Requires the ability to work outside of normal hours to meet deadlines
- Requires the ability to use agency supplied equipment such as laptop, personal computer, work cell phone, etc.
- Requires the ability to attend seminars, conferences and training to remain current on methods, tools, ideologies or other industry related topics relevant to job duties.
- Requires the ability to lift and carry objects or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. This is considered light work as defined by the U.S. Department of Labor (20 CFR 404.1567(b)). Light work involves lifting no more than 20 pounds at a time with frequent lifting or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds.

40% Under general direction, serves a Data Analyst for the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT), supporting the Illinois State Police (ISP):
