- Design and develop metrics, analyses, reports, and dashboards to support decision-making and operations across state government.
- Employ a variety of statistical and other software applications, graphics tools, and business intelligence (BI) applications to analyze results, evaluate performance, and project future trends and needs.
- Work with data engineers and architects to evaluate data pipelines and perform data validation and QA/QC tasks.
- Support the design, development, and implementation of data-sharing efforts across Commonwealth offices and agencies; work with team members and outside departments to access data for ongoing projects and other business intelligence needs.
- Support the development of public-facing data analytics and reporting.
- Research and reports on data-management best practices, including in the areas of governance, storage, privacy, and reporting.
- Develop and maintain relationships with outside departments and agencies; work with team members to build communities of practice around data use.
- Two (2) + years of experience in data analysis, reporting, and visualization, using languages and software such as Python, R, SQL, VBA, and business intelligence (BI) tools.
- Strong analytics and critical thinking skills; ability to organize and synthesize large datasets and use data to identify patterns and problems and formulate solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to develop meaningful data products that address important business or policy questions.
- Experience with structured and unstructured data formats including csv, txt, json, and xml.
- Experience with basic applied statistical techniques.
- Ability to produce consistently high-quality output under deadlines.
- Ability to communicate methods and findings verbally, in writing, and visually to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Capable of working both independently and as part of a diverse, multi-skilled team.
- Strong intellectual curiosity; drive to master new skills, systems, and subject matter.
- Ability to pass an FBI background check.
- Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Product (GCP) or other cloud computing platform.
- Experience working with confidential, protected, sensitive data; working knowledge of data privacy and handling practices.
- Experience with machine learning tools and models.
- Interest in public policy or administration; experience in a government setting.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Social Sciences, Data Science, or other related field, or equivalent work experience.

(EOTSS) is seeking to hire an experienced Data Analyst to join the Massachusetts Data Office. As a Data Analyst, you will use the state’s data to help agency partners deliver efficient and effective government services and make data-driven public policy decisions. Your work will help improve the lives of Massachusetts residents, businesses, and institutions.
The primary work location for this role will be 1 Ashburton Place, Boston, Massachusetts, 02108. The work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 9AM to 5PM EST.
This position would be expected to follow a hybrid model of reporting to work that combines in-office workdays and work from home days.
