- Developing data quality reports and quantifying data-based pain points/issues
- Identifying relevant data, combining it and turning it into actionable insight
- Contributing your own ideas and turn them into reality with the support of our collaborative and innovative team.
- Contributing to improving data availability, usability, consistency, and quality to ensure effective data management throughout our business
- Enabling data and information to be trusted.
- Working with business stakeholders to ensure data quality improvement, automation and embed good data practice.
- Contributing to delivering and assuring CDCs data governance documentation.
- Contributing to the adoption and exploitation of our corporate data and information technologies to maximise value for our organisation.
- Experience in a data or analytics role and/or relevant academic experience
- Knowledge and experience of analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong technical ability with analysis tools such as GIS, Power BI or similar
- Clear and confident communicator
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- A good understanding of data visualisation principles and practices
- Knowledge and experience of data and information management and analysis
- Knowledge or experience of Agile methodologies
- Degree in a numerate subject or one where you have completed statistical/data research e.g. Mathematics, Statistics, Social Science or Science
- Skills in project management methodologies

What you will be doing:
The Corporate Data and Compliance team is focused on helping the business overcome its data and information challenges, making sure data quality is maintained, ensuring that privacy is protected and that the data and information is accessible to those who need it. This is a priority for us as we need to ensure that the business can make the right decisions based on the corporate data available, to deliver our ambitions and to maintain the high standard of service our customers expect. It also supports our employees by making their lives easier by ensuring they have the right data and information to do their roles. We also need to understand more about the data journey and how it flows through the business which supports our teams to make critical business improvements.
As a Data Specialist, you will contribute to improving the quality of data by analysing pain points and producing data analysis and quality reports. You will also seek out and deliver opportunities to enable our internal customers to maximise the value they can exploit from data and information.

The not-so-small print
The salary range for these positions is £ 31,380 - £43,350 (depending on skills and experience).
All new Scottish Water employees are required to complete pre-employment security checks before they can start work.
