Job Description

- Operate and manage routine and emergency service on state-of-the-art critical systems such as: electrical switchgear, diesel generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, computer room air handlers, fire detection/suppression and building monitoring systems
- Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses and prepare reports on all aspects of the critical facility operations and maintenance
- Work with IT Managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability and efficiency
- Schedule work activities within specified change control/management protocol
- Maintain a constant state of readiness in support of the mission goal of 99.999% uptime
- Manage preventative and emergency maintenance schedules and procedures for building systems; identify back-up and replacement inventory needs for critical systems
- Provide on-call support 24x7
- Organize and oversee the troubleshooting of emergencies, equipment problems, and technical issues
- Self-perform numerous electrical/HVAC preventative maintenance activities including but not limited to:
- Filter changes
- Generator operating tests
- UPS/ATS/STS transfer tests and operation
- Oversee and coordinate sub-contractors to ensure proper installation of equipment and delivery of maintenance services
- Oversee updates of standard practices consistent for data center operations and equipment
- Provide ongoing technical support, management and oversight of vendors as necessary
- Manage general building maintenance, repairs, and up-keep
- Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
- Supervises 2 or more employees
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field from a four-year college or university and five years of experience, or a high school diploma (GED) and ten years of data center, critical facility operations and maintenance experience
- Experience supervising and managing vendors and/or sub-contractors
- Knowledge of construction planning, building controls, fire systems, security systems and building automation systems. Ability to read blueprints and CAD drawings
- Technically proficient in planning and scheduling
- Effective communication skills, the ability to lead coordination meetings and actively facilitate progress to achieve scheduled goals
- Excellent organization skills
- Strong people management skills; ability to influence at all levels
- Ability to be flexible and multi-task while paying attention to detail
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
- Proficiency with MS Office and email
- Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; climb to heights above 20 feet, balance and stoop, crouch or crawl; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands and fingers to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, high precarious places and risk of electrical shock The noise level is generally moderate
