- Cooperating, consulting with, and acting as contact for privacy topics with Abbott’s business divisions and global functions.
- Informing and advising the company and its employees who carry out processing of personal data of their obligations to comply with privacy and data protection laws.
- Monitoring compliance with privacy and data protection laws as well as company policies as they relate to the protection of personal data, including assigning responsibilities, raising awareness among key stakeholders, training staff involved with data processing, providing support in connection with data protection assessments and recommending corrective measures arising from such assessments.
- Coordinating the maintenance of records of processing of personal data.
- Advising, where requested, on risk assessments, including data transfer assessments.
- Maintain his or her expert knowledge of data protection laws and practices.
- Supporting regional business with the following activities:
- Guidance on processing activities,
- Preparation for audits,
- Privacy notices and consent management,
- Privacy rights’ requests,
- Incident management, and
- Privacy trainings.
- Master degree.
- At least 3-5 years of working in data protection compliance and experience within a legal, audit, and/or risk function.
- Privacy or compliance accreditation highly preferred.
- Strong project management and training skills.
- Understanding of and commitment to the principles of Privacy by Design.
- Be detail-oriented, highly organized and independent.
- Strong communication, intercultural, and influencing skills.
- Proficiency in English.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Abbott is seeking an experienced privacy professional to serve as Privacy Manager for our LAC region to cover its different business divisions and corporate functions. The successful candidate is an experienced privacy and information security professional, preferable experienced in collaboratively advising on data protection obligations for a multi-national company. He/she has experience in presenting to senior executives and communicating with customers’ data protection officers, is a self-starter who successfully works in "virtual" teams and cross-functional working groups. He/she will be part of our APAC/LAC Privacy team and report to the APAC/LAC Privacy Director.
Primary Objective of Position
Supporting implementation of Abbott’s privacy compliance program in the region as required, including support of policy development, training, monitoring, risk assessment, advising the business on compliance matters, and issue remediation. The Privacy Manager will support in driving Abbott’s privacy program from the ground up, oversee ongoing activities related to the development, implementation, maintenance of, and adherence to Abbott privacy policies and procedures.
The qualified Candidate is familiar with privacy requirements and expected to deliver privacy guidance effectively across the business and to perform his/her duties and tasks in an independent manner. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
