      About the Role

      As a Graduate Apprentice Data Scientist at Diageo, from your first day you will be an active team member working within our Plan and Logistics function .

      We are keen to bring Graduate Apprentices studying Data Science into our teams as our business is changing . We are investing in our digital world . We believe the knowledge and expertise gained by studying Data Science, coupled with experiencing and understanding our current operations and then applying learning as we invest in systems, will help us to strengthen the capabilities across our entire organisation.

      The knowledge you gain as your progress your studies will play a pivotal role in helping us to truly release the potential of our systems and our people . It will also help us to better understand the capabilities we will need in the future.

      How does the programme work?

      Throughout the four years of study, you will have the opportunity to work in, and learn about the key aspects of both Plan and Logistics . You will rotate across different roles to ensure real depth of understanding of our supply chain operations and the data and analytics we currently produce now and will require in the future .

      From a Planning and Scheduling perspective you will join our Scotch category team and will have the opportunity to spend time in different areas learning about each key role within Supply Planning . This will ensure a detailed understanding of how our business currently operates and enables an appreciation of possible challenges faced across the supply chain.

      You will also have connectivity to our Business Planning team in Scotch . An opportunity to learn and influence our longer-term strategic planning operations . Understanding how using data in a sophisticated way can help us to build a more effective business now and in the future .

      Spending time in the logistics functions will enable an understanding of how we move products from sites here in Scotland to locations around the world . Working with our systems to truly understand critical data that helps us to do this with ease and mitigate issues that may lie ahead.

      In all rotations you'll be involved in collecting, managing, analysing, and visualising data to tackle various business challenges within an expert team and will be well supported from each and every employee within the company as you grow into your new career.

      Your role will be multifaceted, and our apprenticeships offer a great opportunity for candidates looking to build a successful and exciting career in data science, data engineering and software development .

      As part of your career development with Diageo, you will study a work-based degree Graduate Apprenticeship BSc Hons Data Science at Glasgow Caledonian University commencing September 2024. This will give you the wide range of computing, software and data science skills required to become an integral part of our organisation .

      Who are we looking for?

      Standard entry for new employees applying directly from school: SQA Higher: BBBB including Maths or Computing, plus Nat 5 English at C. The University accept selected Foundation Apprenticeships, in combination with SQA Highers, for entry to our degree programmes. Your Foundation Apprenticeship will take the place of one SQA Higher qualification for our standard entry requirements and will be treated as equivalent to a B grade at Higher.

      Non-Standard entry f or applicants with prior work experience and professional qualifications there is a possibility to be considered through the university’s flexible entry system through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). This process allows prospective Graduate Apprentices to claim credit(s) against previously assessed and certificated learning, including informal learning, to be considered and recognised for academic purposes and credit within their programme for example Modern Apprenticeships, HNC and HND certifications.

      What should I expect from the selection process?

      Selecting the right individuals to join our programme is crucial to us – we want to see all that complete this Apprenticeship succeed and keep crafting a satisfying career!

      This is why we have built a 3 steps selection process:

      • 1st STEP – CV application

      At this stage is important that you submit your updated CV, clearly stating your highest acquired education and your experience.

      We don’t expect you to have experience in Engineering.

      A brief description of your part time jobs, volunteering, sports, and hobbies can be a fantastic way to introduce yourself and describe your passion for this career path.

      If you have been successful at CV stage st screening, you will then be invited to the second step.

      • 2nd STEP –Initial zoom screening interview

      • 3rd and FINAL STEP – Assessment Centre
