      Across the Centrica group we have established a vast rudimentary data lake comprising of UK & Ireland wide customer and enterprise data for group and our trusted businesses (British Gas, Bord Gais Energy, Centrica Business Solutions, Centrica Energy and Upstream). This data source presents a huge opportunity to create significant value for our customers, for us to build innovative products, provide new services and improve the capabilities of our Centrica employees to drive our journey as we transition towards NetZero. This is where you come in.

      We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Data Scientist to join our growing and dynamic team. As a Data Scientist, you will have a strong background in statistics, machine learning, and data analysis, along with a proven ability to derive actionable insights from complex datasets. You’ll also play a key role in contributing to data-driven decision-making processes and collaborating with cross-functional teams to solve challenging business problems.

      This role will allow you to contribute to the hugely exciting field of data science. Your skills and experience will make a direct impact on our business success and this role will give you the opportunity to be part of an innovative, collaborative and inclusive environment.

      Location: You will be required to work out of our London and Windsor offices approximately 3 days per week.


      About the Role:

      • Data Analysis and Modelling: Apply statistical and machine learning techniques to analyse large datasets and extract meaningful patterns and insights. Develop predictive models and algorithms to support business objectives.

      • Data Exploration and Visualization: Explore and preprocess raw data to uncover trends, anomalies, and patterns. Create clear and compelling visualizations to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

      • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and IT professionals, to understand business requirements and formulate data-driven solutions. Collaborate with domain experts to integrate domain knowledge into analytical models.

      • Model Deployment: Implement and deploy machine learning models into production environments. Monitor and optimize model performance over time.

      • Continuous Learning: Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data science and machine learning. Apply new methodologies and technologies to improve existing processes and solutions.

      About You:

      • Master's or Ph.D. in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.

      • Proven experience as a Data Scientist or in a similar role.

      • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for data analysis and modelling.

      • Strong understanding of statistical concepts and experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).

      • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Matplotlib, Seaborn).

      • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.

      • Effective communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.

      • Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) is desirable.
