      General Summary

      COLSA is seeking a Database Administrator who will be a part of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration’s (NASA) Consolidated Applications and Platform Services (NCAPS) team. NCAPS is a consolidation of current applications to standardize NASA’s IT systems and applications to include general IT, customer support, information management, and mission support systems. Bring your expertise to this Agile CI/CD team to safeguard NASA’s Enterprise. The candidate will be required to work in dynamic fast paced environments that require team interaction and coordination of efforts. Pay scale may vary depending on location.

      • Support database systems and applications on a geographically dispersed Enterprise network with multiple types of servers and server applications.
      • Perform database server administration functions supporting a global Active Directory infrastructure in a mixed environment.
      • Provide database administration (DBA) support services, to include Tier 2 level expertise, as well as the planning, implementation, and monitoring of patching services for physical and virtual solutions.
      • Monitor and maintain databases.
      • Perform requested changes, updates, and modifications to database structure and data.
      • Ensure technical modifications do not adversely affect database integrity, stability, and system availability.
      • Implement solutions for database backup and recovery infrastructure.
      • Troubleshoot database connection issues and build maintenance schemas.

      Required Experience

      • BA/BS degree in a related technical/STEM field
      • Minimum of 4 years recent specialized experience
      • Oracle, MySQL, or Microsoft SQL Certification
      • CompTIA Security + (IAT Level II or greater)
      • U.S. Citizenship required; must be able to undergo a background investigation for a position of NASA Public Trust
      • Must have depth of knowledge and experience in major relational database systems, languages, and applications, such as Microsoft Structured Query Language (SQL) Server, Oracle, and MySQL
      • Requires a strong technical foundation in database structure, configuration, installation, operation and maintenance
      • Must demonstrate the ability to pay keen attention to detail, possess a strong customer service orientation, and have the ability to work as part of a team
      • Must be able to communicate clearly and succinctly both written and orally, and present products and ideas in a business-like manner
      • Must be experienced in interfacing with both client managers and system users

      Preferred Qualifications

      • ITIL v3 – Foundation experience
      • SAFE Team certification
      • Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) certification
      • Oracle (OCP, OCA) or MySQL Database Certification
      • Automation experience using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files
      • Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs
