Use analysis skills and reporting experience to use data to produce both quick-turn stories that illuminate the issues behind the news of the day and uncover trends in the U.S. equity capital markets and cross-border deals between the U.S. and China. Extensive source-building, interviewing, record-searching and data-crunching.
Develop sources of data across financial services and equity capital markets in the United States and China, including investment banks, regulatory lawyers, and policy makers across the industry.
Produce ambitious, original, high-impact data-driven stories about U.S. and Chinese investments, information security and trade imbalances, utilizing her expertise of financial services and regulatory frameworks, in both the United States and China.
Work closely with Corporate Finance Editor and coordinate with Reuters’ award-winning journalism team, to tell global stories, and utilize multiple story-telling platforms including photos, video, text, and social media.
(10% travel time required for domestic and international travel.)
Master’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Journalism or a closely related field, plus 2 years of experience as a Reporter, News Researcher or related position covering business and economics.
2 years’ experience reporting or researching on the tech and finance with a focus on Chinese market.
2 years’ track record of reporting or researching exclusive stories that have major impact, including moving the stock market, or helping shape policymaking on the tech industry with a focus on Chinese investments.
(Experience may be gained pre-during-after Master’s degree.)

Eligible office location(s) for this role include one or more of the following: New York City, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and/or Irvine, CA; McLean, VA; Washington, DC. The base compensation range for the role in any of those locations is $140,000 - $140,000.
