      About us

Bristol Dental School is responsible for research and the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes in Dentistry. Teaching takes place between the University precinct and at the University of Bristol Dental Hospital (UBDH) and School. From 2023 the majority of primary care dental undergraduate placements will take place in a new state-of-the-art clinical facility in the centre of Bristol. This marks a significant departure from the traditional model of dental training and has come with unprecedented investment from the University of Bristol. The change to the operating model allows for a strong focus on clinical education at this new site, whilst enabling dental undergraduates to interact with specialist services at UBDH at the appropriate stage in the curriculum. We are maintaining strong links with UBDH and have a shared ambition to develop and expand the postgraduate portfolio. We also intend the new model to facilitate expanded research opportunities in population oral health and health services research, including primary care, as well as our strengths in microbiology and materials.

  • About the company

National Health Service (NHS) is the umbrella term for the publicly-funded healthcare systems of the United Kingdom (UK). The founding principles were that services should be comprehensive, universal and free at the point of delivery—a health service based on clinical need, not ability to pay. Each service provides a comprehensive range of health services, free at the point of use for people ordinarily resident in the United Kingdom apart from dental treatment and optical care.
