      Our summer Design Intern is a motivated, detail-oriented team player that is looking to gain experience in the construction industry. This intern assists in the preparation of detailed drawings of architectural designs and plans for buildings and structures according to customer input and/or specifications by an architect.

      Job Summary:

      Our Design Intern is responsible for assisting the Engineering and Project Management teams in the preparation of all engineered shop drawings, Revit files and AutoCAD documents required for projects. Specifically, the position will assist the Designer with architectural drafting and engineering of laboratory casework and athletic equipment on awarded projects.

      Additional duties may involve the evaluation of specifications, formulation of BIM Data Link spreadsheets, and other documentation to establish the architectural design objects of each project.

      This position will assist in the preparation and disbursement of sales drawings, drawing templates, Revit families, Request for Information (RFI), and other document management as assigned.

      The goal is to provide the customer with drawing sets that accurately represent the product they are purchasing.

      Essential Job Functions:

      • Assist in the preparation of shop drawings utilizing current architectural design software and engineering practices
      • Assist in the evaluation of the drawings, bid recap, project submittals, and other documentation to determine the architectural products specified
      • Engineer shop drawings utilizing H2i Group standards and procedures
      • Analize vendor quotations and product catalogs to review shop drawings for accuracy and compliance with project requirements
      • Assist in the completion of the BIM Data Link for each project to be reviewed with the project management team prior to release of orders to our represented manufacturers
      • Assist in the completion of the architectural drafting and 3D modeling for each project to be reviewed with the Project Management team
      • Document all approved and non-approved suggestions (redlines) for incorporation into shop drawings
      • Participate in project team meetings and coordinate assignments as determined during the meeting
      • Attend internal/external training opportunities
      • Develop necessary internal and external relationships to successfully manage projects to meet or exceed customer expectations
      • Work with the management team to develop programs for improving/enhancing processes
      • Other duties as assigned

      Qualifications:

      • To successfully perform this job, the Design Intern will have working knowledge of Revit modeling software, AutoCAD drafting, design programming, and a basic understanding of space planning, architectural scaling, dimensions, and project matrixes.
      • The employee should possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, be detail-oriented and conscientious and be self-motivated.
      • The employee must also have the ability to foster positive team relationships with vendors and fellow employees and learn the specification and technical details of the products we distribute as well as those of our competition.
      • Use professionalism and ethical judgment in all areas of the position.
      • Such qualifications would normally be found in an individual with a bachelor’s degree in a related field and or equivalent related work experience.
