- Serve as technical expert for Google Analytics 4 implementation including data layer requirements, tagging, and general analytics platform administration.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product management, and business units, to implement tags, events, and data layer attributes that align with business objectives. Ensure analytics requirements are directly integrated into the web development process.
- Independently read and write JavaScript with general supervision, applying it to Google Tag Manager, to create custom event tags that meet business requirements. Debug/implement changes, troubleshoot, and perform QA on tags in a self-guided manner.
- Draw upon experience, industry best practices, and knowledge of user behaviour to Identify tracking opportunities that can drive better customer experiences.
- Supports major web development projects, code releases, and other IT & Digital Marketing initiatives where custom event tagging and/or dashboards are necessary to monitor success. Gathers information from multiple internal and external sources to create bespoke tagging solutions and advise stakeholders on interpretating results.
- Maintain documentation for analytics tags, event triggers, and Google Data Layer properties
- Collaborate with cross-functional business and marketing managers to provide digital analytics support for web strategies and initiatives.
- Ensure all tagging code is properly implemented and regression tested when new features are added to the website.
- Aid Adobe Target event tagging initiatives.
- Validate tagging accuracy and completeness using other data sources such as ERP data, server logs, and other marketing tools.
- Other duties as assigned.
- A Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Computer Science, or a related field
- 5 years experience in digital marketing or a related field
- 3 years of hands-on analytics implementation experience with Google Analytics, Google Tag Manager, or other similar digital analytics solutions.
- 1 year of Google Analytics 360 experience
- Experience with migration from Universal Analytics to GA4.
- Experience working with Client-Side Rendered front-ends built with Angular or similar SPA frameworks.
- Google Analytics and Tag Manager certification a plus
- Adobe Analytics experience a plus
- Advanced understanding of Google Analytics tagging is essential.
- Strong e-marketing channel knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Basic SQL experience a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to effectively present concepts and reporting data to business users at the Manager / Director / VP level as well as to external customers
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in fast-paced environment
- Ability to work with minimal supervision to meet objectives set by Digital Marketing leadership.
- Ability to effectively foster business relationships across teams and develop a good view of how the business operates
- Ability to immerse oneself into the product and stories to generate relevant campaigns
- Additional qualities:
- Must be a demonstrated team player with a “can-do” mentality
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills to manage multiple work requests and projects. Able to independently prioritize workload
- Typically works in an office environment with adequate lighting and ventilation and a normal range of temperature and noise level.
- A frequent volume of work and deadlines impose strain on routine basis.
- May intermittently travel domestically, international travel is unlikely.
- A certain flexibility of working hours is expected.
- Minimal physical effort is required. Work is mostly sedentary but does require walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting or carrying objects that typically weigh less than 10 lbs.

The Digital Analytics Developer supports Avantor’s Google Analytics 360 implementation across all of Avantor’s web properties. This role will lead the technical implementation of Google Analytics 4 and serve as the subject matter expert for marketing event tag management using Google Tag Manager. The role also supports Data Layer needs for Adobe Target, CDP, and similar products.
