      Digital Projects Manager, CIDA (Regular, Full-Time)

      Registration & Collections

      Reporting to the Head of Collection Information & Digital Assets (CIDA), the Digital Projects Manager serves as a lead in implementing and administrating technology-driven projects related to museum collection data and digital assets such as custom software development and configuration, data cleanup and migration, system integrations, and database upgrades. Working with the rest of the CIDA team, this role provides advanced technical support for digital projects and administration of the systems under the team’s purview which include the museum’s collections management system (TMS), digital asset management system (ResourceSpace), and custom applications. Further, the Digital Projects Manager serves as the lead liaison with multiple stakeholders, including Curatorial, Publications, Photo Services, Information Systems, and Web & Digital Media staff; advocating for the establishment of workflows that will improve both access to and the quality of data, e.g. completeness, accuracy, inclusivity, etc.


      Responsibilities

      • Leads development and administration of new features and software for CIDA systems and data including system configuration, enforcing standards, troubleshooting, and writing documentation
      • Participates in the planning of collection data and asset related projects throughout the Museum, including creating workflow, designing custom digital solutions, training museum staff, and writing reports
      • Oversees the integration and transfer of data between TMS, ResourceSpace, LACMA’s Collections Online platform, and other CIDA administered platforms such as COBOAT, an XML-based publishing tool for producing refined captions
      • Collaborates with CIDA team members on long-term preservation standards and activities, including video content and other born-digital art
      • Provides advanced training and support for the Collection Information Specialists
      • Provides advanced training and guidance for power users of CIDA systems
      • Supervises and trains Collection Information Technicians and interns
      • Works with the administrators of CIDA systems to assist with regular database administration and user support as needed


      Benefits

      • The expected hourly for this Los Angeles, CA based position $31.25 - $33.65 subject to change, and the position is eligible for LACMA’s comprehensive benefits package, including pension plan.

      Qualifications

      • Undergraduate degree or demonstrated experience in Information Science, Library Science, Museology or a related field
      • At least three years’ experience with a museum collections management database and digital asset management systems
      • Experience with digital project management, agile methodology preferred
      • Experience with MySQL, MS SQL, SQL Server Reports, Crystal Reports, Python, and/or XML
      • Knowledge of data standards for museum collection management and digital assets management
      • Strong communication, change management, and problem-solving skills
      • Experience providing user support and training in a team environment
