Translating an innovative design concept into a customer-ready, luxury object takes time, energy, commitment, planning and investment. In Global Manufacturing Engineering we take the product from conception and use our advanced tools, facilities and processes to put it on the open road.

The Dimensional Systems team are a key part in realising our Modern Luxury design, we are responsible for delivering the world class fit and finish that our discerning customers have come to expect from Jaguar Land Rover. All elements of Dimensional Quality are within our remit, whether it be assessing feasibility of product design and processes, conducting Dimensional Variation Analysis (DVA), defining and delivering the Measurement and Metrology strategy, or quality Maturation of new vehicles throughout a product launch.

We are looking for a Dimensional Engineer to be part of our exceptional team in Halewood, Merseyside. Roles are available within our Body Structure, Closures and Cladding, and Vehicle System teams. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Work in cross-functional teams with colleagues across Manufacturing, Product Engineering, Stampings, Design, Quality, Supplier Technical Assistance, Programme Management and Purchasing
• Work in an Agile product development structure
• Evaluate Dimensional Feasibility of the product design, identifying technical issues and ensuring design entitlement to deliver quality targets
• Conduct Quality Planning and analysis for vehicle launch maturation
• Develop part and assembly location strategies, agreeing with stakeholders and documenting in CAD
• Analysing measurement data, both at part and assembly levels

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

Essential

• Automotive background – with understanding of Manufacturing Processes (ideally Body-in-White and General Assembly
• Experience using CAD Packages (CATIA/3DExperience)
• Understanding of Manufacturing Processes & Lean Principles
• Experience launching a new vehicle into production
• Understanding of either of the following
  • Body-In-White Structure assembly methods
  • Closure assembly methods, including hemming
  • Closure cladding methods
  • Vehicle System (Front End, Side, Rear End, Underbody or Interior)
• Understanding of part/assembly Location Strategy Principals
• Relevant Dimensional / Tooling Maturation experience including R&R studies
• Understanding of GD&T (Geometric, Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
