- Set the strategy and work in conjunction with leadership and Insurance Advisors to lead, develop and execute all global risk coverage strategies, including but not limited to Property & Casualty, Directors & Officers, Aviation, domestic and foreign Product Liability, Auto and other key programs consistent with Goodyear’s corporate goals and objectives. Programs should not only meet Goodyear’s overall objectives but should be carefully designed to meet the requirements and needs of the local operating business units.
- Front line communicator with all business stakeholders and external partners. The Director will ensure relationships with key stakeholders are managed and developed to facilitate productive dialogue relating to coverage needs, claim recoveries and risk mitigation strategies where appropriate. Prioritize, allocate and communicate risk management initiatives accordingly.
- Participate in Business Continuity Tactical and Strategic meetings and provide guidance in terms of the Company’s coverage and or potential exposures relating to BI gaps. Work directly with senior legal team, external insurance partners and other internal and external constituencies, as appropriate, to address claims. Responsible for communicating claims to lead insurance partners and working with legal to help reduce loss exposure and maximize loss recovery.
- Lead, develop and train the Risk Management team as it relates to complex technical insurance concepts. In this regard, the Director is responsible for developing junior staff and rotating roles to allow technical growth and understanding. In addition, the Director should also develop the team to be able to negotiate policy premiums and insurance agreements. The Director will also represent Goodyear in external Insurance related meetings.
- Responsible for supervising/managing Goodyear’s Captive insurance company, Wingfoot. Ensure Captive is in compliance with regulatory requirements and properly capitalized in order to maintain insurance license. Ensure all accounting is adequately and accurately maintained and reported. Manage audit of Captive and ensure required filings are submitted accurately and timely. Hold annual BOD meetings with Captive’s officers and ensure resolutions are properly executed. Lead team to develop and implement premium allocation methodologies consistent with world class principles.
- 10+ years of risk management experience with a strong foundation in insurance products. Experience in analyzing risk, recommending insurance and/or risk management products and capacity to understand and negotiate costs. Experience working with outside providers/brokers. Have been a risk manager in a progressive marketing oriented perhaps industrial company with a global network of operating subsidiaries, joint ventures and partnerships. Demonstrated experience in leading a team effectively. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain relationships with internal constituents and external partners.
- Leadership, analytical, organization, persuasive/negotiation, interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Project management skills, balanced with solid strategic thinking/ innovation mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to articulate a business case and lead others to a common goal even in ambiguous or stressful situations.
- Financial acumen. Up to date on insurance and risk management products with an ability to link external-internal dynamics.
- Bachelor's Degree with concentration in areas of risk management, accounting, finance, economics or management is required.
- MBA or other advanced degree is preferred.

The Director, Global Risk Management will be responsible for executing Goodyear’s Global Risk Management and Insurance Strategy. Responsibilities include implementing risk mitigation objectives and goals as established by Senior Management to minimize financial loss to Goodyear from global property, casualty, domestic and foreign general/product liability and surety exposures. The Director will also directly manage and negotiate the settlement of large and complex property and casualty claims.
Internally, the Director will be the liaison with key constituents at Corporate and all regions/business units globally. Externally, the Director will be responsible for nurturing and/or establishing solid and trusted relationships with insurance partners, lawyers, advisors and other Risk Management related contacts. In addition, this position will manage and provide leadership to a team of internal insurance/risk management personnel.
In addition, the Director will have direct responsibility for managing Wingfoot Insurance Company Limited, Goodyear's captive insurance company, including strategy and directives in compliance with corporate goals and statutory requirements established by the Bermuda Monetary Authority.
