      Our Position

      Reporting to the Vice-President of Market Access and Pricing, the Director, Market Access Strategy – Biopharmaceuticals Business Unit (BBU) is a key strategic leadership position within AstraZeneca Canada. This position is responsible for the overall development and execution of AstraZeneca’s reimbursement planning (Early to Late), access and HTA strategies and public and private submissions to enable patient access to our medicines and vaccines. The Director mentors and manages a team of professionals, determines resources and engages with leaders across the business (business unit heads, finance, regulatory, medical & scientific, global BBU market access to set priorities, build strategies and execute plans that support AZC’s business objectives in both the near and long-term. The incumbent will be one of the key members of AZ Canada’s Senior Leadership Team (SLT).

      This position is a critical enterprise-wide role within AZ Canada and has regular communication with the Executive Team (ET), Senior Leadership Team (SLT) for prioritization and strategic commercial directions.

      Accountabilities Summary:

      • Lead, develop and cultivate the Market Access and health economics teams, building a team culture aligned to AstraZeneca’s values, fostering an environment of innovation, a solutions oriented approach to problem solving and a strong drive to deliver results.

      • Leads development of the market access strategies and plans, including payer engagement plans, for all inline and pipeline products within the therapeutic areas, and is accountable for achieving business objectives.

      • Responsible for ensuring commercial alignment for strategic direction and will be a key member of the BBU Leadership Team.

      • Establish the departmental goals and objectives, set targets and measurements, aligned to functional and Canadian business objectives.

      • Engage with department leaders in national head office and field locations regularly to ensure departmental and business objectives are aligned.

      • Seeks new insights as well as environmental trends to develop foresight to build strategies and plans.

      • Lead and/or participate in local, national and global-cross functional teams to address and support market access and external relations needs within the business.

      • Ensure appropriate training and development opportunities are delivered to build a pipeline of skilled professionals, capable of filling future vacancies

      • Responsible for collecting and reporting Adverse Events in accordance with AstraZeneca policies and procedures

      Qualifications:

      • Advanced degree (MSc or MBA) in a relevant quantitative or business or any science specialty

      • Significant relevant pharmaceutical experience (10+ years) in market access, government affairs or health economics

      • Track record of delivering market access success across products/therapeutic areas through leading cross-functional planning processes

      • In-depth knowledge of pCODR, CDR, INESSS and private payer processes

      • Proven team and people leader with previous people management experience

      • Ability to think strategically about sophisticated and systematic challenges, and ability to plot a forward-looking solutions oriented approach is critical

      • Solid understanding of business and credibility at senior commercial levels required

      • Strong communications skills (written, spoken and presentation) with influencing abilities

      • Fluency in French is an advantage
