Degree in computer science preferred, or relevant technical experience
Has 8+ years' experience in an IT field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
Prior management experience is preferred
Strong preference for development and delivery capabilities supporting CLA IT Products or Enrollment Capabilities
Ability to support multi-million-dollar initiative delivery, including rough order of magnitude estimations along with iterative hardening of estimates
Ability to present initiative updates to Senior Leadership as well as supporting program updates across a spectrum of leaders
Ability to interact with the Program and Project management functions to ensure delivery and financial alignment
Ability to interact closely with the Finance and Program Management teams for budget, SOW, and financial tracking
Demonstrates leadership in executing IT plans successfully that enable technical or business capabilities and address technology or business priorities
Strong understanding of Agile/Lean leadership principles
Exhibits courage by taking smart risks and encouraging others to do so; empowers innovative approaches by motivating others to be proactive and resourceful
Has proven and demonstrated knowledge and skills in one or more technologies or industries
Able to apply broad business and technology understanding of internal and external trends and capabilities, to ensure successful implementation of IT plans.

Engage in strategic planning with business and IT stakeholders, providing direction, guidance, and recommendations on technology and architectural considerations.
Define and manage a portfolio of change and roadmap, influencing IT and business leaders to achieve agreed business objectives.
Collaborate with IT leadership across various disciplines, offering guidance and recommendations to address diverse business and technology needs, emphasizing optimized and timely delivery.
Initiate and influence relationships with key stakeholders involved in IT plan management and implementation, acting as a point of contact for stakeholders, planners, designers, and operational business partners.
Drive the application of the company's technical and architectural roadmap objectives in partnership with practice leaders.
Utilize deep understanding of IT, emerging technologies, and technical capabilities to guide stakeholders and teams in developing, deploying, testing, and managing IT services.
Ensure a strong, diverse talent and leadership pipeline to meet aggressive business goals, developing, coaching, and engaging people to higher performance levels.
Support self-organizing teams by understanding their needs and facilitating management activities that promote self-organization.
Ensure agile teams apply best software engineering practices, including test-driven development, peer reviews, continuous integration, unit and regression test automation, adherence to standards, and comprehensive 'definition of done.'
Benchmark infrastructure and operations services to maintain appropriate cost and ensure end-to-end management and delivery of these services.
Analyze patterns and trends to utilize key performance indicators and critical success factors, improving organizational performance.

General Summary:
Unum is seeking an experienced Director of IT Delivery to lead our Colonial Life Products Team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of program and portfolio management, coupled with exceptional leadership and stakeholder management skills.
Additionally, you will lead your own delivery team as well as team of people managers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development, manage a portfolio of IT projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, use SDLC and agile methodologies to streamline project workflows and enhance delivery efficiency and build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including executive leadership, to ensure alignment and support for IT initiatives.
This is a hybrid opportunity, combining the benefits of in-office collaboration with the flexibility of remote work. The opportunity involves 3 days in the office and two days remote per week at either our Portland, ME or Chattanooga, TN campus.Job Specifications

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$109,100.00-$224,000.00Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
