What will you do as the Director of Business Systems?

We are seeking a skilled Director of Business Systems to take the helm of our internal Business System architecture. Reporting directly to the CFO and meeting with the CEO regularly, this role will work closely with members of the leadership team in areas of operations, marketing, operations and finance. The Director of Business Systems is a strategic leader responsible for spearheading process improvement and innovation and optimizing business workflows through the effective utilization of technology and systems to deliver enhanced operational efficiencies and overall business growth. This key leadership role involves driving the development, implementation, and management of business systems and processes to support the organization's strategic objectives. The first assignment will be to help implement a Warehouse Management System tied to our NetSuite instance, ensuring efficient flow of data while maintaining accurate inventory and record keeping.

The ideal candidate will have experience with NetSuite and integrating multiple disparate systems across a growing organization. This person will also be involved in regular and strategic conversations with our third-party IT firm which handles our IT environment including security, telecommunications, technology procurement and networking solutions. Therefore, this candidate should be able to have an educated perspective on these topics as well.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Strategic Planning: Develop and implement a strategic vision for business systems and technology initiatives aligned with the organization's goals and objectives. Identify opportunities to leverage technology to drive innovation, improve operational efficiency, and enhance business agility.

2. Business Process Analysis and Improvement: Collaborate with business stakeholders to analyze existing business processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements or automation opportunities. Streamline workflows, optimize processes, and drive operational excellence through the implementation of best practices and technology solutions.

3. Systems Development and Integration: Oversee the development, customization, and integration of business systems, applications, and platforms to meet business requirements. Ensure seamless integration and interoperability between systems to enable data sharing, reporting, and analytics.

4. Project Management and Execution: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of business systems projects and initiatives on time and within budget. Define project scope, objectives, milestones, and success criteria. Manage project resources, budgets, and timelines effectively to ensure successful project outcomes.

5. Vendor Management: Evaluate, select, and manage third-party vendors, consultants, and service providers to support business systems implementation, integration, and support activities. Negotiate contracts, service level agreements (SLAs), and pricing to ensure cost-effectiveness and value delivery.

6. Change Management and Training: Develop and implement change management strategies to support the adoption of new business systems and processes. Provide training, documentation, and support to end-users to ensure successful system implementation and user adoption.

7. Risk Management and Compliance: Identify and mitigate risks related to business systems, data security, compliance, and regulatory requirements. Ensure adherence to industry standards, best practices, and internal policies to safeguard the organization's assets and reputation

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Partner with HOMAGE leadership in the design, implementation, and maintenance of the internal system architecture, ensuring alignment with business objectives and scalability for future growth.

• Manage the various technologies that power HOMAGE internally, our ERP (NetSuite) and our ecommerce provider (Shopify), with various accompanying technologies around the core

• Collaborate cross-functionally with various departments and stakeholders, including finance, marketing, product, and operations, to understand and gather business requirements for new and/or existing technology.

• Identify risks and recommend changes accordingly to processes and procedures. Makes recommendations for gains in efficiency or costs through implementation of technology solutions.

• Oversee the integration of third-party applications and tools with existing systems, optimizing workflows and enhancing overall efficiency.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for vendors and external partners, managing relationships and driving continuous improvement in system capabilities and performance.

• Work closely with third-party IT firm on general computer services and network support.

• Develop and enforce best practices, policies, and procedures related to system usage, security, and data management, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

• Lead initiatives to evaluate, select, and implement new technologies and platforms that align with HOMAGE's strategic goals and enhance operational effectiveness.

• Performs as the liaison between various stakeholders; manage stakeholder expectations and ensure successful communication between key stakeholders.

• Monitor current system performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement solutions to address issues and optimize system functionality.

• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in business systems management, leveraging insights to drive innovation and maintain HOMAGE's competitive edge.

• Provide regular updates and reports to senior leadership on system performance, project status, and key initiatives, fostering transparency and alignment across the organization.

• Other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What are we looking for in a Director of Business Systems?

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in business systems management or a related role, with demonstrated expertise in system architecture and optimization.

• Software Engineering experience is a plus

• Proven experience with enterprise-level systems such as NetSuite and Shopify, as well as familiarity with other relevant platforms and technologies.

• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members to achieve excellence.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

• Strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset, capable of driving initiatives from concept to implementation and delivering measurable outcomes.

• Solid understanding of business processes and operations, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.

• Experience with project management methodologies and tools, with a track record of successfully leading complex projects to completion.

• Familiarity with data analytics and reporting tools, with the ability to leverage data-driven insights to inform decision-making and drive continuous improvement.
