      DIRECTOR OF KEY RELATIONSHIPS

      Main areas of focus: Major Donor Fundraising, Portfolio Management, Communications, Leadership

      Location: Remote - U.S. only. Preference

      Eligibility: charity: water is fully remote and hires from all 50 U.S. states. At this time, we are only considering candidates who are eligible to work in the United States without the need of company sponsorship now or in the future.

      JOB HIGHLIGHT

      You’ll partner with the SVP of Development and Development team leaders in the building and execution of team strategies, major donor products and experiences, communications, and fundraising targets.

      JOB SUMMARY

      As Director of Development, you’ll report to the Senior Vice President of Development and work closely with members of the Key Relationships (KR), Brand Partnerships (BP), and Key Relationships Experience (KRX) teams to execute on the teams’ goals. You’ll advise on and support the Development team hiring strategies and actively participate in the recruitment process. You’ll mentor and manage members of the Key Relationship team on fundraising best practices. You’ll apply industry and institutional knowledge to the development of new processes and initiatives. You’ll work cross-functionally to ensure team and organizational priorities stay in alignment and are well executed.

      YOU’LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR…

      Personally prospecting, cultivating, stewarding, and soliciting a portfolio of Well Members and Water Project Supporters - with special attention paid to upgrading donors with high capacity - with a total annual goal of $5M+

      Supporting the CEO, CRO & SVP of Development with the cultivation and account management of select VIP relationships

      Partnering with the SVP of Development and Development leaders and making recommendations, as needed, on team strategies and KPIs

      Driving strategies and projects that will lead to increased major donor identification, retention, satisfaction, as well as greater internal efficiencies:

      Executing ongoing, meaningful email communications that will be used in prospecting, cultivating and stewarding major donors (WPS and legacy givers) that span donor audiences

      Providing expertise and insight for the Development team in portfolio and moves management with donors

      Partnering and collaborating with the DevOps team to ensure optimal usage of Salesforce and other revenue-related applications and to support data management

      Working with Engineering, RevOps, BizOps, Marketing and others to lay the foundation for increased donor automation

      Supporting the SVP of Development on integration to enable intentional donor journeys across the org

      Leading processes related to inventory management and fundraising

      Mentoring members of the Key Relationship team on fundraising soft and hard skills, setting a real-life example on best practices, like shared fundraising

      Supporting the SVP of Development on hiring strategies & execution and team structure design in order to deepen the capacity of the Dev team and align team resources to support current and future growth

      Driving the strategy to continue to refine and define the identities of our major donor audiences, including WPS and The Tributary; supporting the KRX team in doing the same for major Ops donors (The Well, Paid Ads, Angels & 1M Lives Sponsors)

      Consulting and supporting the KRX team on the execution of meaningful donor products & experiences, providing donor perspective to aid decision making

      YOU MUST HAVE…

      A Bachelor’s degree in a related field or similar experience

      Extensive fundraising and management experience, consistently meeting or exceeding revenue targets

      Proven success in fund development for a $50M+ budget non-profit and experience executing on revenue goals from multiple donor channels

      Deep understanding and experience in the donor cycle: prospecting, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship

      Proven ability to drive and lead others through the fundraising process from plan to close

      Demonstrated ability to communicate, present, and influence credibly and effectively at all levels of the organization, including executive and C-levels

      Experience in donor product development

      Experience in planning, leading, and managing revenue goals, including coordinating with peers to achieve desired outcomes, and tracking and reporting on progress to the executive team

      Skilled in creating powerful, compelling written and oral communications

      Ability to convey complex ideas through brief, simple materials

      IT’S AN ADDED PLUS IF YOU HAVE…
