- Lead the strategic development, maintenance, and execution of the PK-HS Mathematics curriculum product/services roadmap, ensuring alignment with the organization's vision, mission, and strategic goals.
- Provide insight and thought leadership on Open Up's digital strategy internally to the product team and externally to partners.
- Provide leadership and guidance to mathematics educators and administrators
- Lead curriculum revision and revising projects to ensure materials align with OUR curriculum pillars and are current to meet market needs.
- Manage the complete lifecycle of content area products by driving communication and collaboration across diverse teams.
- Collaborate closely with the Chief and Managing Director of the Academic, Equity, and Social Justice Team to ensure that all Mathematics programs reflect classroom equity principles and effectively serve Open Up's diverse student population.
- Manage and mentor a diverse team of Mathematics Specialists with deep expertise in PK-12 pedagogy.
- Utilize Open Up's national community of practitioners to gather feedback on the mathematics curriculum, integrating insights into future revisions.
- Educate internal stakeholders on mathematics program offerings and communicate key programmatic milestones, such as submissions to EdReports.
- Support the development of curriculum-specific grant proposals, reports, and strategic initiatives.
- Liaise with our Mathematics curriculum authoring partners, serving as the primary connection between authoring teams, internal OUR teams, and external partners involved in curriculum development.
- Lead partnership meetings and coordinate cross-functional work streams to ensure partner support and adherence to project schedules.
- Proactively identify and assess potential mathematics partners in collaboration with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT).
- Develop and manage alignment processes for mathematics curriculums.
- Collaborate with external reviewers to ensure comprehension of standards, rubrics, and instructional materials.
- Communicate reviewers' feedback to authors and internal stakeholders, identifying areas for improvement and strategic implications for program development.
- Evaluate and refine alignment processes as needed, maintaining a relationship with EdReports.
- Lead the transition from pilot to classroom implementation of the mathematics curriculum portfolio.
- Coordinate pilots with schools/districts, collect data and feedback, and communicate results to internal stakeholders to drive product/service enhancements.
- Collaborate with the Product team to continuously enhance curriculum materials.
- Identify opportunities to study the efficacy and measure student outcomes resulting from engagement with OUR mathematics curriculum.
- Lead the development of sales and marketing materials and collaborate to convert pilot sites into long-term OUR customers.
- Align the mathematics curriculum roadmap with sales and marketing strategies.
- Support the planning and execution of the annual national Open Up Resources' HIVE conference.
- Participate in RFP Committee meetings to ensure OUR materials meet state/district adoption requirements and compile necessary information for submission responses.
- Participate in key sales meetings, conferences, and RFP presentations as necessary.
- Develop sales team trainings for new programs and create sales/marketing collateral to scale programs successfully.
- Support the sales team with case studies as required.
- Provide ongoing training for mathematics products and conduct onboarding training for new hires.
- Required experience in curriculum design and development in the K–12 publishing industry
- Extensive PK-HS math experience in various capacities (classroom teacher, instructional coach, and/or mathematics education leadership) is required
- Experience managing and coaching a diverse team of people
- Expertise in the teaching and learning of Common Core State Standards for Mathematics and a keen understanding of state standards
- Keen understanding of culturally responsive teaching
- Ability to work with diverse stakeholders on issues and topics related to Mathematics Education and/or education at large.
- Experience using the EQuIP rubric and/or IMET; experience evaluating instructional materials against these rubrics and other industry frameworks such as the EdReports review tool.
- Strong understanding of mathematics pedagogy, curriculum standards, and data-informed instruction
- Familiarity with current educational technology tools and their applications in mathematics education
- Experience using the NYU Culturally Responsive Mathematics Curriculum Scorecard
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple high-stakes projects, delegating tasks to team members and holding them accountable to timelines/deadlines
- Superior attention to detail, dedication to excellence, and proven track record of accountability
- Strong technology skills for collaboration in a remote environment; ability to lead meetings via web conference tools and working knowledge of Salesforce, email, Google platform, and MS Office 365
- Superb communication and collaboration skills; written, verbal, and interpersonal
- Ability to consolidate feedback from multiple sources and communicate results effectively

- This is a remote, full-time, benefited position with a salary range of $90,000 - $150,000.

The Role
The Director of Mathematics is responsible for leading mathematics curriculum development, providing strategic leadership, and supporting cross-team strategic initiatives connected to the organization’s Mathematics products and services portfolio. This position will manage PK-HS Math Specialists, and other content experts who support this work.
