      Position Summary:

      Under the direction of the Vice President (VP) of Clinical Operations and with wide latitude for decision-making and problem-solving, the Director of Nursing (DON) is responsible for leadership, oversight, and guidance for the provision of holistic, high-quality health care services for children at the Westchester Residential Campus of JCCA. The Director of Nursing will provide administrative direction to all nursing staff in the Residential Medical Program to achieve the mission of providing equitable quality therapeutic services.

      The Director of Nursing would support a team-based approach to providing quality care and positively supports JCCA’s core values, vision and mission to ensure that the agency’s goals and objectives are met.

      Summary of Job Functions:

      • The DON will work with the AVP and VP of Clinical Services to develop and implement the overall strategic medical and nursing plan for the residential campus.
      • The DON ensures that the campus health center’s clinical performance and standards of care adhere to standards of city, state, and federal government, agency bylaws, and accrediting bodies.
      • Communicates and interprets policies and procedures to nursing staff, and monitors staff practices and implementation including checklists and protocols to ensure practice efficiency.
      • Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with the professional community, referral sources, government regulatory bodies and funding sources.
      • Collaborate with Supervisor, Campus Nursing to oversee to ensure adequate nursing supervision as evidenced by adequate services and staff coverage on unit.
      • Promote continuous quality improvement efforts through monitoring patient care outcomes, measure, track and improve performance, quality through medical audits, accreditation processes, and overall compliance with regulatory and clinical practice standards across all disciplines.
      • Directs the development and implementation of orientation, training and continuing education programs for nursing personnel; conducts trainings for staff and clients as required.
      • Maintain cooperative relationships with other agency personnel, including Child Care, Permanency, Operations, Human Resources, Finance and Quality Management departments.
      • Overall responsibility for the performance management of nursing staff, with guidance and consultation with Human Resources. The DON will work with the AVP and Chief Medical Officer to develop and implement the overall strategic medical and nursing plan for the organization.
      • Ensure adherence with Managed Care Organization contract requirements.
      • Maintain current awareness of OCFS, ACS, NYS and Foster Care Regulations.
      • Maintains professional competence through participation in continuing education and other appropriate learning experiences.

      Qualifications:

      • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; Master’s degree in Nursing or health related field is preferred.
      • NYS Registered Nurse License
      • Minimum seven (5) years of supervisory experience with pediatric population
      • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
      • NYS Driver’s License preferred

      Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

      • Leadership and management skills with the ability to engage, motivate, and promote a positive working environment
      • Passion for and commitment to working with diverse, vulnerable communities in line with JCCA's mission.
      • Knowledge of and/or experience with the child welfare system.
      • Ability to provide leadership and direction to medical and mental health teams around standards of practice.

      Salary: $125K - $135K
