- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline required
- Graduate degree in a related discipline preferred
- Healthcare related training preferred
- Minimum of 5 years of experience leading safety and security in a healthcare/hospital environment or related discipline
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Self-motivated, with the ability to effectively plan, prioritize, and shift priorities within changing needs
- Strong understanding of the budgetary process, including preparation and management within established expense parameters
- Outstanding interpersonal dynamic, with ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with clinical and non-clinical personnel, in leading and coordinating safety and security activities to ensure safety of all staff
- Experience in interacting with accrediting/regulatory organizations in maintaining compliance
- Familiarity with NFPA 99 and Life Safety Codes
The Director maintains a leadership role in ensuring the safety and security of patients, visitors, employees and volunteers, encompassing oversight and coordination of safety protocols, security measures, and emergency preparedness initiatives across the healthcare enterprise. Directs all hospital and affiliate activities related to Safety, Security, Emergency Management and Hazardous Materials. Serves as key liaison between the healthcare enterprise and respective external agencies and regulatory bodies, to successfully maintain Safety/Security and Emergency Management program compliance. Provides guidance and support to hospital leadership on Safety and Security best practices. Expertise in developing and implementing emergency management plans, response protocols, and continuity of operations strategies to ensure the hospital's readiness in handling potential crisis or disaster situations.Education/Training:

• Certified Healthcare Protection Administrator (CHPA) preferred

The employee is required to walk 90% of the time, must be able to run, and is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to grip, and secure restraints, and reach with hands and arms. Must be able to don and doff protective equipment. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds when assisting in a medical emergency or evicting an individual from the premises. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
