- Provide leadership for alumni programming, outreach, and engagement that supports the mission of the institution;
- Overseeing the day-to-day operations for Alumni Affairs and support the Alumni Association, including assisting the board of directors prepare for meetings and strengthening ties between the College and alumni;
- Conduct strategic and annual planning for events, programs, outreach, and collaborations that foster engagement for constituents such as alumni, donors, government officials, students, partners, and/or friends of the college;
- Facilitate budgeting and resources for alumni and government relations areas;
- Coordinate engagement efforts to maintain positive and effective relationships between the College and constituencies;
- Maintain and enhance alumni data through managing tools and outreach efforts such as SUNY Eye Network, the alumni platform. Coordinate with advancement services, communications, and other key offices to help maintain accurate alumni records;
- Collaborate with key departments including Career Development, Continuing Professional Development, among others to develop volunteer and engagement opportunities;
- Supervise alumni volunteer, student workers, and staff as needed;
- Support the College’s mission through strengthening visibility, reputation, image, and fundraising efforts;
- Serve as a member of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement’s leadership team.
- Strong organizational skills including ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Exceptional communications skills; ability to articulate ideas and concepts easily as well as integrate others’ suggestions and outstanding interpersonal skills.
- Five to eight years of demonstrated experience in institutional relationship position(s), alumni relations, government relations, event planning, and/or volunteer management.
- Demonstrated management of key departmental or division operations such as budget, technology, communications (including social media), strategic planning, and/or supervision of staff.
- Understanding of government affairs at the city, state, and/or federal levels.
- Ability to travel as needed in support of programming; some evenings and weekends required.
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree (masters or other advanced credential preferred)
This role will be primarily responsible for the planning, creation and implementation of programs that foster strong relationships, financial support and goodwill across several constituencies including alumni and government officials. Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement, this position will work collaboratively with members of the advancement team, key departments, and College leadership.Specific duties & responsibilities: provide leadership and oversight for the day-to-day operations for alumni affairs and alumni association, develop events, programs, and outreach strategies that fosters engagement for various constituents; manage alumni volunteers for key activities such as mentoring and speaking to student clubs; provide strategic and annual planning for strategic engagement, maintain positive and effective relationships across constituencies; serve as a member of the VP leadership team
