      Job Description:

      Parsons is hiring a Mission Assurance Director to support the NSF Antarctic Science and Engineering Support Contract (ASESC). The role will be based in Colorado Springs, CO, however, remote work is permissible with occasional visits to Colorado Springs and ASECS support locations.

      What You’ll Be Doing:

      • Serve as part of the senior leadership for the NSF USAP managing a Mission Assurance team of about 50 employees in planning, securing, and managing resources in support of the NSF Antarctic research activities.
      • Develop and implement program strategy and change initiatives with a focus on mission assurance
      • Successfully lead efforts to deploy about 2,000 USAP participants
      • Manage a $10M+ annual budget across safety, quality, compliance, and internal controls initiatives and projects
      • Develop, establish, and manage an Environment, Safety and Health (ESH) program that complies with Federal occupational safety and health standards and ensures USAP participants are trained and prepared for assignments and react appropriately when emergency situations arise
      • Develop and implement a comprehensive safety and health program to protect and promote employee safety and health that is consistent with the policies in the USAP Safety and Health
      • Ensure compliance with local occupational safety and health standards of other countries when they are more stringent than U.S. standards
      • Provide all required support services to sustain the Program within the context of a comprehensive safety and health program
      • Ensure completion of annual ESH compliance training to all employees and subcontractors, including site specific safety and health topics.

      Additional Responsibilities:

      • Responsible for leading, directing, and managing Parson’s Quality, Occupational Health and Safety Programs and environmental compliance activities to ensure all program participants are provided a safe and healthful working environment and that the science and operational activities can take place while protecting the Antarctic environment.
      • Oversees implementation of a comprehensive, effective Quality, Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety Program encompassing all work centers through relevant training, awareness, employee involvement, communication, job safety analysis, etc. Engenders management support for integration of these measures through the work centers.
      • Ensures all activities are performed in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, standards, and codes imposed by the Antarctic Treaty and the US Government.
      • Directs the systematic review of all planned activities to ensure they are compatible with the Antarctic environment; works with USAP participates to assess, and as appropriate, manage, and mitigate impacts. Prepares appropriate environmental impact assessment documentation.
      • Ensures compliance with environmental monitoring programs in areas of drinking water, wastewater, hazardous waste, air emissions, and designated protected areas. Includes initiation of corrective action measures in areas of noncompliance and follow-through with responsible organizations.
      • Oversees the development of quality, safety, health, and environmental training and education programs to ensure USAP participants understand the hazards involved and expectations required while on the site.

      What Required Education/ Skills You’ll Bring:

      • Bachelor’s degree in business management, environmental science, organizational leadership and/or another related field preferred
      • Requires 8+ years' project experience with maintenance and operations in support of preferred science mission agency (NASA, NOAA, DOE or NSF) or equivalent, with specific focus on quality, safety, environmental and mission assurance.
      • Experience with managing a diverse remote workforce and instituting culture change
      • Ability to travel to the HQ in Colorado and/or Antarctica + support sites (20% - 30% travel)
      • All candidates must pass strict physical and dental examinations, a psychological examination for winter positions, a pre-employment background check, a drug screen, and proof of U.S. citizenship.
      • Master's degree preferred
      • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
      • Experience with managing large construction projects preferred

      Salary Range:

      $117,000.00 - $210,600.00
