      The Director, of Global Trade Compliance, is responsible for providing direction and oversight of Beckman Coulter Diagnostics Global Trade Compliance Program while developing the long-term strategic roadmap to manage the existing business, grow our functional capabilities, improve our compliance posture, and design the optimal organizational structure to support global trade operations across the entire network. This leadership role will manage a diverse team responsible for Trade Compliance across a variety of products, value streams, and geographies. The successful candidate will be a hands-on thought leader responsible for devising strategies and programs to maximize output and minimize costs to meet company objectives leveraging extensive expertise and knowledge of all relevant import/export regulations, business practices, and processes to facilitate a successful global trade compliance program.

      This position is part of the Global Operations function and will be located in Cincinnati, Ohio (Hebron KY) or Minneapolis, MN (Chaska), or Brea, CA, and will work in a hybrid work mode.       You will be a part of the Logistics and Distribution team and report to the Vice President of Global Logistics and Distribution, responsible for the strategy and execution of Beckman Coulter’s logistics, transportation, distribution, and trade compliance functions that span 6 continents and encompasses over $300M in spend.       In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

      • Build a best-in-class trade function, while reshaping and redesigning the organizational structure to increase capabilities and performance while leading a global team of trade compliance professionals and working across a matrix of trade operations partners located throughout the network

      • Develop specific policies and procedures to ensure Beckman Coulter is compliant with foreign and domestic import/export requirements

      • Identify, initiate, coordinate, and lead cross-functional projects that improve existing processes to support trade compliance activities and/or business objectives (e.g., Supply Chain Optimization, trade automation screening process, compliance rule logic, and other trade compliance automation projects)

      • Maintain global risk register and work collaboratively with all site departments to ensure they have implemented effective compliance controls into their procedures and work instructions

      • Establish and maintain Beckman Coulter’s Trade Compliance Training Program and act as Beckman Coulter’s representative for the execution of Customs audit matters, remediation actions and disclosures with close partnership with Danaher and platform trade leaders

      • Coordinate and in certain regions conduct and manage self-testing or other auditing and monitoring programs for Beckman Coulter’s export/import compliance programs and work collaboratively with Danaher and the Diagnostics platform trade compliance leadership to align on priorities, policy, and initiatives

      • Oversee the development and implementation of import/export processes related but not limited to:

      • Broker/agent management including oversight of broker KPIs and daily management

      • Import and export licensing, including export due diligence practices

      • Global tariff and ECCN classification process

      • Global Country of Origin Determination and Marking

      • Global Customs Valuation Special Trade, Supply Chain Trade Security, and/or Duty Drawback programs and resolving issues as per program risk assessments (e.g., C-TPAT, AEO, etc.)

      The essential requirements of the job include:

      • Bachelor’s degree with 20+ years of experience OR Master's OR Doctoral degree in business, supply chain, operations, quality or related field with 18+ years experience AND 6+ years related experience in leading a global trade compliance organization managing people.

      • Fluency with WTO, WCO, U.S., and non-U.S. classification, country of origin, preferential trade agreements and valuation rules and Customs regulations, with knowledge of import and export trade laws and regulations, as they relate to: Export Administration Regulations (EAR) of the U.S. Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS), U.S. Treasury Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and European Union (EU) Legislation

      • Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing a comprehensive global trade compliance program at a large, multi-national corporation

      • Proven ability to influence stakeholders in order to bring about change and drive continuous improvement across multiple geographies and functions, while delivering meaningful results

      • Demonstrated ability to lead a function across a matrixed environment and develop strategies to improve results

      • Strong, proven and visible people leadership skills with experience leading teams; ability to coach, motivate and empower others and to develop talent

      It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

      • Leading global trade compliance and trade operations in the pharmaceutical, diagnostics or life sciences sectors

      • Proven ability to collaborate across the organization and operate effectively within a matrix while influencing others

      • Strong critical thinking and project management skills, ability to exercise independent judgment and manage complexity and ambiguity

      The salary range for this role is $185,200-$240,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.

      This job is also eligible for bonus/incentive pay.
