Job summary
As the inpatient pharmacy team, we are responsible for providing quality care to patients in wards/clinical areas well as in our inpatient pharmacy dispensary/stores. We do this through close working with the ward based multidisciplinary teams ensuring effective communication between our ward-based pharmacists/pharmacy technicians and nursing staff, doctors and other MDT members providing accurate and efficient supply of medications from inpatient pharmacy in addition to supporting with aspects of medication governance.
As the Dispensary Manager, you will be responsible for effectively managing and overseeing the pharmacy technicians, trainees, and assistants in dispensary and stores to ensure provision of an efficient, economic, and timely pharmacy led dispensary and distribution service.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will carry out the full range of duties as the Pharmacy Technician Dispensary Manager, to deliver patient focused, quality care at Newham University Hospital.The post holder will be responsible for managing the dispensary of pharmacy technicians, pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians (PTPTs) and pharmacy assistants to ensure delivery of quality care to patients and will be responsible for organising the operational flow of the service. The post holder will also be responsible for ensuring the effective management of the dispensary and stores team by maintaining and reviewing:-Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)-Stock control and management of pharmacy medicines including controlled drugs, FP10s and other controlled stationery-Co-ordinating and acting on pharmacy specific audits-Maintaining and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) specific to areaThe post holder will work closely with the Associate Director of Pharmacy (ADoP), Deputy Head of Pharmacy (DHoP), and the Site Lead Pharmacy Technician (SLPT) to maintain high performing standards within the pharmacy dispensary.
