      Job Summary

The Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine (PVM) invites applications from Credentialed Veterinary Technicians with a strong interest in teaching veterinary nursing students for a remote, full-time position as an Instructional Technologist in the Veterinary Nursing Distance Learning (VNDL) program. Applicants are required to have a Bachelor’s Degree. Preference will be given to those candidates with a Bachelor’s Degree in Veterinary Technology/Nursing. Applicants are required to be a credentialed veterinary technician within their current state of residence. The candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills and a positive, service-oriented attitude. The position requires 3 years of experience working in veterinary nursing/technology or the veterinary profession. Preference will be given to candidates with teaching experience (particularly online) and experience working with large animals, small animals, and laboratory animals.

The responsibilities of this position primarily involve the instruction of courses in the VNDL program. The successful candidate will spend approximately 90% of their time serving as principal instructor for various online courses that may include parasitology, microbiology, nutrition, animal diseases, and others as delegated. The other 10% of the position includes participating in PVM engagement activities that benefit both the DVM and VN programs and various educational and administrative responsibilities as assigned by the VNDL Assistant Director.

The Purdue Veterinary Nursing Program is consistently ranked amongst the best in the nation and affords the successful candidate a rare opportunity to engage and teach in a high-quality academic setting. Purdue's VNDL program was among the first few online programs accredited by the AVMA and has been accredited since 2002. Graduates of the VNDL program have one of the highest VTNE pass rates (over 90%) when compared to similar AVMA accredited online programs. Perhaps the most significant benefit of this position is they will join a team composed of some of the most talented, passionate, and experienced faculty and staff members in the field of veterinary nursing.

The strategic plan of the PVM emphasizes the importance of excellence and innovation in veterinary education that results in the graduation of career-ready veterinary nurses. Instruction via online learning and mentorship courses are important curricular components that contribute to achievement of this goal.

The College of Veterinary Medicine at Purdue University values, nurtures, and respects all members of its community and ensures an environment of inclusive excellence where all students, faculty, and staff are inspired and empowered to achieve their full potential.
