      The role:

      • Design, implement and evaluate the diversional and recreation program within the allocated work area.
      • Ensure the efficient and effective provision of care, based on relative best practice principles and standards within a collaborative and interdisciplinary framework.

      The service:

      Listen to Bree and Erin, two of our wonderful therapists, talk about our services. We work in the community and the hospitals, including the Royal Hobart Hospital, the largest teaching Hospital in Tasmania. Our 90+ team members include occupational therapists and assistants, play specialists, diversional therapists, carpenter, and administration officers. We are organised into three clinical teams each lead by a Deputy Manager - Community, Rehab and Acute. We have Clinical Leads for Community, Rehab, Sub-acute, Acute Medical, Acute Surgical, and Paediatrics focusing on education and quality improvement.

      As a qualified Diversional Therapist you will work with referred acute or sub-acute inpatients within the Royal Hobart Hospital or Repatriation site, delivering person-centred, goal directed, high quality services in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team.

      Details of Appointment

      Permanent, full time, day worker position working up to 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible.

      *notwithstanding hours may be negotiated with the successful applicant

      • Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.

      Salary:

      $71,441 - $107,878 per annum . Our Employer 11% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

      You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

      In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

      • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum
      • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement

      Eligibility:

      Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

      1. Tertiary qualification which meets the eligibility requirements for Certified Membership of the Australian Recreational Therapy Association

      The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre‑employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:

      1. Conviction checks in the following areas:

      • serious drug offences
      • crimes involving dishonesty
